Hello! My name is Jason Manley, and I am a junior from New Brunswick, the sole bilingual province in Canada. I speak English and a little French. I have what appears to be a thoroughly undeserved rating of 2088. I play openings at a level of about 1350, middlegames at 1850 or so, and endgames at 1700. I'm still not entirely certain how the rating happened, but some times you just get lucky, as can be seen from some of my games. I am also an enthusiastic Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Steelers fan. So I spend part of the year sobbing, part of the year grinning, and part of the year screeching like a maniac. You can guess which parts.

I despise cabbages. They are vile, aggressive maniacs who are taking over the world. They must be stopped!

Mar-28-13 World Championship Candidates (2013) (replies)

number 23 NBer: I have to say that I have been very impressed with Kramnik's play throughout. Carlsen's resourcefulness in saving difficult positions vs. Ivanchuk, Radjabov and Kramnik was certainly a sign of a champion, but (and correct me if I`m wrong) I don`t recall Kramnik having to ...

   Mar-09-13 D Omarsson vs A Hambleton, 2013 (replies)

number 23 NBer: This gamescore is incomplete. The following complete score was posted on a Canadian message board, Chesstalk: [Event "Reykjavik Open"] [Site "?"] [Date "2013.02.20"] [Round "2"] [White "Omarsson, Dadi"] [Black "Hambleton, Aman"] [Result "1/2-1/2"] [ECO ...

   Nov-22-12 Keene vs N High, 1963 (replies)

number 23 NBer: There is no comment on a game where on e player is named high and the location includes Mushrooms? This is just begging for it.

   Sep-02-12 J Gallagher vs C Crouch, 2001

number 23 NBer: Just playing through this game quickly, it felt like this mate came out of nowhere. On move 40 I was curious about how white could win such a simplified ending with equal material vs. the outside passer- mate in 2 solves that nicely.

   Jun-07-12 Tal Memorial (2012) (replies)

number 23 NBer: Are you guys sure about that round 7? On the live video on Chessbase it looked like there were draws in every game except Caruana-Aronian, which didn't get on.

   Jun-04-12 S Sery vs Z Vecsey, 1921 (replies)

number 23 NBer: <sevenseaman> Nice puzzle! It's 1...Re1 2 Qxe1 Nxf3+, picking up the queen, right?

   May-30-12 Keres vs A Ebralidze, 1946

number 23 NBer: Despite not finding the win, Ebralidze must still have been proud of the draw- Keres went +17 in this 19 round event, his only other draw being with a teenage Petrosian!

   May-19-12 S Predescu vs Nakamura, 1995

number 23 NBer: Then again, Predescu was 7, so it wasn't a master beating a little kid.

   May-18-12 K Szabo vs I Lysyj, 2012 (replies)

number 23 NBer: Talk about a marathon victory! Szabo must have been able to save that at some point, but good on Lysyj for keeping on him.

May-17-12 Kamsky vs Seirawan, 2012 (replies)

number 23 NBer: After Bxh6, I feel like it's lights out. Even if there is a defens e, how will Seirawan concoct it with comparatively little time?
