Jun-12-19 S Rosselli del Turco vs Alekhine, 1933

sea7kenp: I got this Game from a collection (thank you <Veloiac>) about a Book I just purchased: "How Not to Play Chess", by Eugene A. Znosko-Borovsky. The first Diagram in the Book is from Black's 27th Move. It follows moves 28 and 29, but suggests 30 Nxc6 cxb2, 31 Bxb2 (translating ...

   Jun-09-19 C Gibbs vs C Davie, 1916

sea7kenp: Just in case Black thinks he can keep his Queen with 10 ... Ke7, White plays 11 Ba3! Bye bye Queen.

   Jun-09-19 D Shirley vs B Ellena, 1981

sea7kenp: Computers seem to like Black's position after 5 ... Nxd5. I've set up multiple positions, from the Fried Liver scenario and, as White, don't do well against Stockfish. (I'm "about" a Grade B).

   Jun-07-19 G Robinson vs C Davie, 1916

sea7kenp: I see another alternative for Black: 5 ... Ke8. No Mate threat here. And, unlike the original Petroff trap, Black has a Bishop for a Pawn so, instead of losing material, might be giving some back.

   Jun-03-19 A Fernandez-Velasco Climent vs A Munoz Angel, 2001

sea7kenp: White to Black: "The Good News? You get to keep your Queen. The Bad News? ..."

Jun-03-19 Polerio vs Domenico, 1610 (replies)

sea7kenp: <morfishine>, I chuckled over that myself. Does this mean that there is also a "Modern Fried Liver"? And then it hit me: "Old Fried Liver" was the Pun!

   Jun-03-19 L Bachmann vs Kunstmann, 1899

sea7kenp: I love this to death! 12 ... Qxg5 is answered by 13 b4#!

   Jun-02-19 L Holmberg vs O Hongset, 1962

sea7kenp: <Lil Swine>, I modify your statement slightly: "Never play the Damiano Defence as Black". I have fully enjoyed playing Damiano as White, with 3 Wins and 0 Losses (or Draws).

   Jun-02-19 Karjakin vs M A Sola Lluch, 2003

sea7kenp: In my opinion, Black helped White Mate him with 7 ... Nbd7. 7 ... Qe7 (to protect f7) looks much better.

   Jun-02-19 K Jovanovic-Blagojevic vs J Tuomainen, 1974 (replies)

sea7kenp: Black might as well take the Bishop because, in my opinion, 8 ... Kf8 is worse, due to 9 e6.

Haven for Descriptive Notation.
