skytzo985: If I had to guess, I'd say those hoping for advances in mainline theory will be sorely disappointed. Magnus's quirky opening style will be front and center here. Anand won't have any trouble equalizing as Black over and over again. Hopefully we'll get some amazing closed games ...

skytzo985: <Robed.Bishop>, that's a very kind thing to say, but I unfortunately don't have any games in chessgames database (YET!). I've always wanted to see chessgames expand to include user-posted games in their forums that show up in the same format as the GM and master games. As ...

skytzo985: I guess it's just me, but I'd rather have Black here. That c-pawn looks really strong long-term and as mentioned above, the knight on e5 can't win by itself. The only thing I'd be worried about is the f4 push, but d5 looks pretty well-anchored

skytzo985: I don't think Ballard will ever become a GM, because that would require two things he seems to have no interest in: A) the necessary commitment to chess, and B) playing outside the southern US. But will he make master? If he plays at the same rate he does now for another 10 years,

skytzo985: I know a master who keeps one one knight facing left and the other facing right so he can keep track of tempi in the middlegame

   Sep-24-11 A J Goldsby vs Tkachiev, 1995 (replies)

skytzo985: I am a very calm guy. I rarely get angry or even agitated, but it really gets me upset when my opponent plays on for dozens of moves with no drawing chances. I just find it to be very rude (borderline disrespectful in some positions). For example, I was playing an opponent rated ...
