Dec-28-11  ughaibu: In Game Collection: Moscow 1966 you have a small mistake, either that or a misselected game. Your table gives Petrosian two wins against Korchnoi, but the score of one game is a draw.

Your table gives Petrosian two wins against Korchnoi, but the score of one game is a draw.> A number of online sources list the game in question Petrosian vs Korchnoi, 1966 as won for Petrosian, yet here in our database and at the NIC Database it is listed as a draw. There's virtually no information to be found online about this tournament other than what I already have collected, so I'm not sure where the discrepancy lies: in the game score or in my final standings. Any additional input from print sources or otherwise would be most appreciated.

suenteus po 147: A bit of catching up:

<offramp: Once again thanks for the brilliant games collection about that VERY difficult tournament, New York 1889.

That is a tournament well worth playing through by anyone here with an interest in chess history.

<suenteuspo147> has put all the games on one internet page - a task for which we should all be grateful.> I appreciate the gratitude!

<jessicafischerqueen: My dear <suenteus> you can't possibly imagine my delight upon finding this:

Game Collection: Bad Pistyan 1922

Once again, thanks to you, I'll be able to put <actual information> into a chess history video, instead of just making stuff up like I usually do.

Outstanding work.> You're quite welcome, Jess. I will work on incorporating that info you followed with into the collection very soon.

< WannaBe: New Stephen King book, new Stephen King book, and it's huge, it's gigantically-nourmous! It's ginourmous!!!

I am so excited, I feel like a 18 year old going to the prom!

Okay, this post will probably come back and haunt me when I am named the assistant under-secretary to Upper Mongolia in the year 2145...> I assume you're referring to 11/22/63, which is mammoth in size, indeed. I haven't picked it up yet, but let me know how ti is. I haven't read a new King book since Cell!

crawfb5: Regarding the 1966 training tournament in Moscow, Rusbase agrees the Petrosian-Korchnoi game was a draw. They have one other difference from your results:

http://al20102007.narod.ru/nat_tour...

Your results with Rusbase's results in parentheses.

Petrosian 8.5 (8)
Boleslavsky 5.5 (6)
Simagin 4.5 (same)
Averbakh 4 (same)
Shamkovich 4 (3.5)
Korchnoi 3.5 (4)

The other difference is Boleslavsky vs L Shamkovich, 1966 is not the game Rusbase has for Boleslavsky-Shamkovich. The game we have in CG's database is listed as a <team> game. Rusbase gives this game (not in CG's database) instead:

Benzol: "Korchnoi's Chess Games" and "The Games of Tigran Petrosian Vol 2" both give the game as a draw but there is a slight difference in the way the game ended.

suenteus po 147: <Benzol> Do you mean there were additional moves that are omitted from the gamescore in our database, or do you mean that their score branches off from our score at some point in the order of moves? Is there a way of confirming so can correct the score, if need be?

Benzol: <suenteus po 147> Sorry Peter for not elaborating. It's easiest if you read my post on the game see Petrosian vs Korchnoi, 1966 Don't know which ending is the correct one or how it can be verified either way.

suenteus po 147: <Benzol> Paul, of course I should have checked the game itself and then read your post. I think the best solution (unless someone was there, taking notes) is the "alternate moves" feature that is sometimes included in the notes for games. Is the <CG Librarian> still on top of things?

Benzol: <Is the <CG Librarian> still on top of things?> That's a good question and one I don't have an answer to. I submitted a correction a short while ago about a game of Martin Dreyers' but so far there has been no action on it. The <CG Librarian> doesn't post very regularly.
