Ex romanian master, living in Canada, between computers (artificial intelligence, databases) and literature. Steinitz was probably the best chess player. Lasker the most successful. Capablanca the only life time genius. Tal had the worst performance/talent ratio (sickness...) Fischer is the only man in history who wiped out the soviet chess machine. Karpov showed again how a chess champion should look like. Kasparov was the last and the greatest. And now in 2007 finally we have a worthy champion but let's see for how much time. Welcome Anand !

   Nov-23-09 World Cup (2009) (replies)

tud: Romania, 2 participants, one through :-)

Nov-15-09 Ivanchuk vs Kramnik, 2009 (replies)

tud: <Chucky missed a few times the winning move. 21. Bxg6, 23. Ndxe6. And finaly 26...f5 equalized the game and lead to a quick draw.> Very strange game mister Ivanchuk (all my admiration for you as a player btw). My mom found quite quick the 21Bg6. Its kind of a move which screams on

tud: Overall, this close ranking of the first 5 tells about how important is training and the impact of the computer. The idea of the chess school is not anymore relevant. We have in the first 5, an armenian, a russian, an indian, a bulgarian and a norwegian... Carlsen is the product of the ...

   Nov-07-09 Tal Memorial (2009) (replies)

tud: Anand won, Aronian won but still on this site Kramnik is the solely leader of the tournament. Cool.

   Oct-23-09 Viktor Bologan (replies)

tud: Viorel, vorbesti romaneste? Rusii au luat Basarabia de doua ori in 1812 and 1941 si au schimbat multe dar romanii fac parte din Europa si tu esti o mindrie a Moldovei (Romaniei) ?

   Oct-18-09 Vladimir Kramnik (replies)

tud: How about a rapid Kasparov Kramnik? Who would say NO, Kramnik or Kasparov? hehe...

   Oct-17-09 Nigel Short (replies)

tud: Two things for Nigel. He is one of the best writers about chess with his insights and humour. However he has less books than Keene and we miss his verb, stories and firm attitude. Secondly, he should kick some a** at the next tournament and unveil a Korchnoi kind of revival.

Oct-03-09 Pearl Spring Chess Tournament (2009) (replies)

tud: We may say that Kasparov trained and well prepared 2 worldchampions: Kramnik and Carlsen. Karmnik would not become world champ without serious training he had as a secondant. And Carlsen, well, Carlsen is striking clear the future...

tud: If you speak Romanian you get by well with understanding Italian in Rome.

   Sep-27-09 Kenneth Rogoff (replies)

tud: Bush added 5 trillion in debt and delivered a country with problems to the next president. Obama adds a few trillions, hopefully for a country which will build hologram computers, electric cars and space shuttles running on alternative energies. Plus a better health care... Those who ...
