Ex romanian master, living in Canada, between computers (artificial intelligence, databases) and literature. Steinitz was probably the best chess player. Lasker the most successful. Capablanca the only life time genius. Tal had the worst performance/talent ratio (sickness...) Fischer is the only man in history who wiped out the soviet chess machine. Karpov showed again how a chess champion should look like. Kasparov was the last and the greatest. And now in 2007 finally we have a worthy champion but let's see for how much time. Welcome Anand !

May-14-13 Carlsen vs Radjabov, 2013 (replies)

tud: Carlsen is in the same category with Lasker and Korchnoy. Real fighters. Die hard people. Endgame masters.

Apr-01-13 World Championship Candidates (2013) (replies)

tud: I owe an apology to Ivanchuck or do I? Unpredictable man. And also, not anymore so sure of Carlsen beating Anand. There is something the young needs to improve and he needs something I am not sure he is good at. To build a team around him.

   Jun-27-12 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

tud: Yes, Magnus is very mature for his age and one other thing, he is good with physical sports, so he will be a great player for many years to come. I think next step he should play a machine, say Fritz, before Anand. Just my 2 cents...

May-23-12 Gelfand vs Anand, 2012 (replies)

tud: This game Portisch vs Karpov, 1978 shows that Karpov played a bit better Rfe8 before Bf3. Probably a better plan.

   May-21-12 Anand-Gelfand World Chess Championship (2012) (replies)

tud: Too many comments against Gelfand. (I was one of them :-)). It is 4-4 ! Still work for Anand and cheers for Gelfand resistance. This match shows the older you get, the better you get. Being a mind business, (like Korchnoy showed in the 70s that he is not prepared to get old), there is ...

May-20-12 Tarjan vs Ljubojevic, 1969 (replies)

tud: 20... Rg2 opens a possibility to fight the Ke7+.

   Mar-06-12 Cristina Adela Foisor (replies)

tud: They are a very nice chess family. I happen to know both.

   Feb-29-12 Browne vs Karpov, 1975

tud: With white, a Karpov win beyound doubts.

   Jan-21-12 Gata Kamsky (replies)

tud: Happy he makes it finally ! 1-0 with Navara.

   Jan-20-12 Tata Steel (2012) (replies)

tud: I root for Carlsen and Nakamura but Topalov had a sort of a fresh style which I hope he will never lose it.
