whiteshark: <Memethecat> Thanks for the Nietzsche quote. I lolled when I put it into the "Search Kibitzing" box. ;)

I found some interesting Nietzsche stuff on man-woman relation. It's in German though. http://www.aeoni.de/nietzsche.htm

Memethecat: Thanks for explaining. Unfortunately my German is very limited. In the UK catholic schools teach French & protestant schools German, old alliances. Luckily there is plenty of Nietzsche online in English. He could be very witty & its one of the many things I like about him. I don't trust anybody that doesn't have a sense of humour.

whiteshark: <Memethecat> Does that imply you have an old 'French connection'? :D

On Nietzsche, I'm starting to make some advances in some areas... though it's too wide a subject.

whiteshark: <Xeroxx> Thanks for the quote of the famous Chinese general Sun Tzu.

I have a good dozen books with different translations of his tractatus <The Art of War>.

A while back I started with an synoptical presentation of them. It's sad to say, but it looks like another unfinished matter... :(

<the triangle system Noteboom, Marshall Gambit + other Semi Slav Triangle lines" < by GM Ruslan Scherbakov >> - Everyman Chess 2012. 448 pages

Grandmaster Ruslan Scherbakov presents an opening system for Black based on the Semi-Slav Triangle - an ambitious way to fight the ever-popular Queen's Gambit. Black's weapons include the Noteboom Variation - a dynamic counterattack which takes White out of his comfort zone and offers Black the chance to dictate the game from the outset. Scherbakov also examines options for Black against the aggressive Semi-Slav Marshall Gambit, as well as White's quieter tries such as the Exchange Variation, various defences of the c4-pawn and the Catalan approach. Scherbakov has over 20 years of experience studying and playing these opening variations, which have been tried and tested successfully at grandmaster level and are ideally designed for players who want to challenge White in the opening.

* Written by a renowned Semi-Slav Triangle expert

* Packed with new ideas and critical analysis

* Explains typical plans and tactics for both sides

Ruslan Shcherbakov is a Grandmaster and a former Russian Junior Champion. He has more than 20 years of training experience, has worked with many leading young players and since 2005 has been coaching Olympic and two-time European Champion Kateryna Lahno. He is a renowned opening theoretician and a regular columnist at chesspublishing. co

  whiteshark: Thus spoke William Burroughs:

Know anything about chess? It can be a virtual life work, and what is it to absorb all a man's thought and energy? A waste and complete escape from reality on any level. It is not creation. It is not even a real game, and if the theory of chess is ever fully understood it will cease to exist.

I wonder if Burroughs & Nietzsche would have liked each other.

whiteshark: Quote of the Day storage tank

I have a notion that the game of chess provides us with a very attractive image of fulfilled human life, It conjures up every sort of situation that involves struggle and overcoming. At the beginning, of course, we have to concentrate too hard on getting our head around the game as to let our imagination stray across the board; but soon our heavenly spirits take flight and restrains their journey.
