my chess life story..

My chess career was tainted with tragedy. When I was 8 years old, my proud father matched me against Dino, a veteran player in the barber shop. I was not only beaten but totally demolished. I could still remember my opponent’s statement to my red-faced father, “pare, spirit na lang natitira sa anak mo. Wala nang fighting!”

Many years later, right after I graduated in college, I went home to the province. Early in the next morning I rushed to the barber shop which was situated at the back of our house to seek revenge. I almost fainted when I found out that Mang Dino had passed away several years earlier!

wordfunph: mate <eternal> thanks for the visit, hope you join the leaders soon. Took a risk, just lucky to have $1k on hao-carlsen and bingo :)

goodluck amigo <eternal>!

Aug-02-12  Tal7777777: Congratulations on being #2 overall in the summer leg as of August 2, 2012.
Aug-03-12  kardopov: thanx sa grit sirs worditch and shadowleaf. I'm getting old. Can't play fast chess because my reflexes are declining. Just hoping for good showing from the Phil. Team. It's a strong team.
Aug-03-12  alcausin: Nice chessbookie achievement :)
Aug-03-12  eternaloptimist: <word> thx for the well wishes! That was a nice bet that u made on Hao-Carlsen...1k!! That makes for winning a lot of chess$!! I was in the top 25 but I went all in on Carlsen to win vs Bacrot & he let me down. I also bet on him to win biel & he let me down there also. Although on the bright side there is still plenty of time for me to get back up there! Hopefully u will win this leg!! Good luck!!

wordfunph: sir <alcausin> salamat po, balik na uli kayo sa bookie at mag-enjoy tayo hehe.

mate <eternal>, long way to go! leg may end on 1st week of September and may cover Istanbul Olympiad (Aug 27 - Sep 10). Carlsen-Bacrot was a catch, most of the leaders lost chessbucks. Best of luck amigo <eternal>..

Aug-03-12  eternaloptimist: <word> yes there is a long way to go in this leg! Hopefully they will have the Olympiad in this leg! It's my favorite chess event! I think CG will probably include it in this leg. The U. S. Championships (men's & women's ch) r my 2nd favorite & the World Championship is my 3rd favorite. Indeed most of the leaders lost chess$ on Carlsen-Bacrot. It seemed logical to pick Carlsen to beat Bacrot & picking Carlsen to win Biel but unfortunately that didn't happen. I wish u lots of luck my friend!
