   Apr-30-13 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

yoozum: Anyone watch the Charlie Rose interview with Carlsen? I couldn't get through 5 minutes of it. Carlsen couldn't even answer why he enjoyed playing chess. The guy needs to work on his charisma.

yoozum: < Pballa: I'm at work and can't spend much time on this, so can anyone please post a link that shows the tiebreak scenarios for Carlsen and Kramnik?> Pretty simple tiebreak scenario. If Carlsen and Kramnik get the same overall score, then Carlsen wins because he has more wins.

yoozum: <In 2012 Carlsen won six games, lost 3 and drew 18 against *elite* players. Like I said, his record Elo did not come from dominating the elite, it came from closing the deal with relatively weaker players and in this he is very good. All credit to him for beating the opponents he ...

yoozum: <Van Wely beat Sokolov? Now, thats news> Van Wely beating anyone at a tournament like this is news.

Nov-21-12 FIDE Grand Prix Tashkent (2012) (replies)

yoozum: Hoping Moro wins this, but assuming that Caruana or Gelfand take first place.

   Jun-18-12 Tal Memorial (2012) (replies)

yoozum: Sure, Carlsen could have posted a bigger margin but let's not forget that he was also the only undefeated player!

   May-28-12 Anand-Gelfand World Chess Championship (2012) (replies)

yoozum: The bigger problem is that in a few years, who is going to challenge Anand (assuming he wins the tiebreak)? He will be in no form to pose a serious threat for someone like Aronian or Carlsen.

   Apr-15-12 Garry Kasparov (replies)

yoozum: I think the interview was pretty arrogant. It's pretty presumptuous to say that a 2851 in 1999 is comparable or even better than a 2785 in 1972. That's almost 3 decades of inflation.

Apr-10-12 Morozevich vs Jakovenko, 2012 (replies)

yoozum: This almost looks like a Morphy game from the 1800's.

Dec-05-11 Carlsen vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

yoozum: Yes, he lost to Carlsen today, but let's keep in mind that he beat Aronian yesterday. Going 1/2 with 2800+ players isn't horrible.
