   Nov-12-16 M Vachier-Lagrave vs Ivanchuk, 2016 (replies)

zoren: Planet Chucky

   Oct-01-16 Tal Memorial (2016) (replies)

zoren: Doesn't look good for Tomashevsky. He blew two endgames this event as of round 4. He was famously known along with Jakovenko to be somewhat of a technician and expert endgame player during his 2015 Candidates run but he is unrecognizable here at Tal Memorial.

Sep-17-16 Carlsen - Karjakin World Championship (2016) (replies)

zoren: Karjakin didn't look that impressive in the Olympiad and blundered very badly against Harikrishna. It's not going to be a walk in the park for Carlsen but it doesn't look good for the Russian. Even when Carlsen isn't on his peak form, he turns in 2800+ performances and there's no ...

   Sep-12-16 Chess Olympiad (2016) (replies)

zoren: What are the conditions for Canada or Norway to medal (if possible at all)?

Sep-10-16 Chess Olympiad (Women) (2016) (replies)

zoren: USA vs China is a tall order. Might be the Olympiad the US takes double Gold :)

   Aug-22-16 Vassily Ivanchuk (replies)

zoren: Russian Draughts isn't solved AFAIK and International Draughts has expanded from 8x8 which is known to be soft solved to 10x10 and sometimes to the 12x12 variant which is also popular. Still a surprise though for Ivanchuk to play Draughts instead.

   Aug-14-16 Sinquefield Cup (2016) (replies)

zoren: Congrats to So for a well deserved victory. Topalov on the other hand, made poor use of his opportunities in this event. Topalov's game against Aronian in a vacuum was a display of fairly rank endgame technique and is highly questionable considering their standard of play. He built a ...

May-04-16 Svidler vs Kramnik, 2016 (replies)

zoren: Peter is going to have nightmares about this one for awhile - for a professional, losing in a position that is well known to only play for two results is pretty painful.

   May-03-16 S Sevian vs E O Risting, 2016

zoren: Morozevich was one of the first top players to essay 2.Qe2 with some frequency against the French as to get something original since there is the potential to get a different pawn structure after ed instead of a long theoretical duel around the central dark squares (c5 / d4). It also ...

Apr-24-16 US Chess Championships (2016) (replies)

zoren: Shankland-Lenderman in today's round (Rd. 10) is the type of game to lose sleep over. At least they are close in ELO not too much is at stake anymore for them, but it's bringing back all of my chess PTSD when I was for a very long time unable to put away games against titled players. ...
