MissScarlett: <steve>, I inadvertently deleted the game <Berry - Rudge>, gid=1284055. Can you recover it in toto with its kibitzing and GOTD header?

I have a copy of the game if all else fails.

MissScarlett: I inadvertently logged out of my account on my PC and being unable to remember my password, I’m now effectively locked out therefrom. I can’t reset my password via email because I have no memory of which email is registered (and that’s assuming its not a fake). I can log on as a member using my IPad - which pretty much restricts me from doing anything except posting - but I can’t see what my password or account email is without authenticating the account via the password. I’m fearful of accidentally logging myself out on the IPad, too. Please advise.

If you used a password manager on your browser you might be able to find it there.

You're logged in from somewhere - and you might get the password from your browser there.

Sure, firmly established by two cranks. Get over yourself.

First, as in presenting them before individually instituting a huge change in a 20 year old site? Great idea.

Et toi, Brutus.

You've obviously long thought I fully endorsed the change-over, incorrectly. I was involved in the discussions, sure, but afaik the switch was entirely a one-man operation.

We don't vote on things anymore.

I did support the idea that <CG> should adopt a uniform policy, and Rogoff now sticks out like a sore thumb.

  offramp: Avoine Open (2000)

The Avoine Open is held every year since 1984.

I was interested and went to
Tournament Index
but
<"Sorry, no tournaments found for that search.">.

For a laugh I used that comical search box on the home page:
<SEARCH OVER 1,876,000 CHESS GAMES
Try typing a player's last name, followed by a year or range of years, e.g. "Morphy 58-59". (more info)>

Of course, that search box is as useful as a McDonald's ice cream machine.

Has "Avoine" not been indexed?

That's fine. The discussion can remain there if they want.

But that shouldn't stop you from making a Chessgames - Politics page that is visible to all. The engagement of kibitzers will increase the visits to your sites.

The number one winner will be you.
The increase visits will increase the income from google ads.

<But that shouldn't stop you from making a Chessgames - Politics page that is visible to all. The engagement of kibitzers will increase the visits to your sites.> I see your point.
It could be a moderator's nightmare though.
Jul-28-25  stone free or die: I doubt that people would be coming to <CG> specifically for the political(*) - the internet is full of far better places for that.

(*) - Well, in the old days there were armies of sock puppets who did, but that's in the past.

If <Rogoff> were to be renamed under the new <CG> regime, I would recommend the name <Chessgames - Rogoff> for nostalgia's sake.

Assuming we're all caught up finally at this point...

The treatment of <Rogoff> is incongruent with the other off-topic Easter eggs forum's treatment.

The original reason for that was given as simply the fear of the reaction if changed. So the easier forums were targeted first (i.e. the ones with fewer contributors who might complain).

That rationale doesn't really work for me. I like uniformity and consistent treatment. I actually said so at the time, and I still say so now.

Susan Freeman: <SFoD> That makes sense. This is a chess site, first and foremost. The fact that Rogoff took off in an aberrancy is best self contained, in my opinion.
