I have definitely seen that one. A classic!!

  jessicafischerqueen:

lol yep Zero Mostel and Phil Silvers how can you go wrong?

Yes I will fly back to Canada in March to help look after my mother. She's old and lives alone, and she needs someone to help her out a bit. She can afford a "live-in Nurse," but she doesn't like "strangers" (who does? lol) so I will do what I can.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make money "online" that won't result in me being thrown in jail. That way I can work in Mom's apartment and be around in case she falls over. She has been falling down an alarming number of times, which is not good when you live alone.

Thanks <The Focus> I'm actually looking forward to seeing my mother more than just once a year. Also my brother and sister are on board to help out as well.

When you work for so long in a foreign country, sometimes you can forget your homeland- you kind of have to do that just to get by day to day, because here you are in Korea and that's where your life, friends and work are.

I am looking forward to "becoming a Canadian" again.

I love Canada. Soon I will be a real Canadian again.

I've often thought you had a good situation as a Hawaiiaiin. If I'm not mistaken, isn't Hawaaii the best state in the union?

According to several unreliable news reports I just made up, the only down side to Hawaiia is that it's hard to spell.

I'm not saying that's not a serious drawback, but I think I could live with it.

On other news, have you ever listened to the <Ben Shapiro> show? I think he's the most intelligent pundit in America at the moment. He also publishes regularly for the National Review.

Here is his latest analysis on <President Trump's> unfortunate (and yet humorous) "bleep hole country" comment, in case you secretly wanted to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r_...

I love living here. There are many opportunities available here that I can get nowhere else. I don't like cold weather. I spent most of 2017 traveling on the Mainland. I missed my year-round good weather.

I watch him every day. Ben is very intelligent. Even my son is a Shapiro fan.

I saw what he said about Trump! Loved it.

Personally, if Trump did say it, I have no problem with it. Some of those countries are s***holes.

Big Pawn: <JFQ: I'm trying to figure out a way to make money "online" that won't result in me being thrown in jail.>

If you can write you can make money online. There's a huge demand for writers of all kinds. Marketing companies that specialize in search engine optimization always need original content. Native English speakers get paid much more than ESL even if ESL has a masters in English.

You would have to write about whatever they need you to write about. They will have clients in all kinds of field and you'll need to produce content for them.

Content that ends up on a company blog will pay good money. A 2000 word article can go for $200 to $350. If you have a profile at various freelancer sites (fiver, seo clerks, upwork, people per hour) and get lots of good reviews from doing lots of good work, you can charge more.

Other kinds of content are less important. The marketers use this content strictly for search engine optimization. They put this content (often 500 word articles) on blogs that no one will see, but they link back to the company site and that increase the company website search engine rankings and visibility. These can be $15 or so, but prices do vary a bit. This content can be whipped out quickly. The main thing that buyers will want is that it's 100% original (passes copyscape) and comes across as truly native English.

If you establish over time about 5 or 6 steady clients, you can earn a cool $200 a day, but you'll be writing.

Id suggest something related to Hillary Clinton. Copious quantities of money, little jail time.

TheFocus: Well, in <Chess Life> this month, January 2018, there is an article on William Lombardy in which they repeat the ridiculous claim of Lombardy's that <I was Bobby's only teacher from [age eleven] and right through Reykjavik.> (Of course, speaking of Fischer.)

Perhaps Lombardy forgot that Fischer was taught by Carmine Nigro, to whom Bobby even dedicated his first book to <To my chess teacher, Carmine Nigro>. No mention of Lombardy in that dedication. Bobby studied with Nigro unto 1956, when Nigro moved to Florida. And then Bobby began training with the masters that showed up at John Collins's Hawthorne CC that he ran from his house. Lombardy was one of those regular masters.

Many articles since then have touted Nigro as Bobby's teacher; Bobby repeating it several times in articles himself.

So, Father Lombardy, I hate to tell you, sir, that your claim is a lie. You never made that ridiculous claim while Bobby was alive to correct you.

You were not his teacher. You were just someone he played chess with and studied with. One of many.

It is what it is.
