<Diceman> I won't be investigating any "opportunities" related to <Bubba> and <Hill Dawg>.

I think a snake oil salesman would be a better bet.

Don't remind me.
I had a friend who had a <prostitution incident> with the <regular> police.

Received a $200 fine for ending a sentence with a proposition!

TheFocus: Well, in <Chess Life> this month, January 2018, there is an article on William Lombardy in which they repeat the ridiculous claim of Lombardy's that <I was Bobby's only teacher from [age eleven] and right through Reykjavik.> (Of course, speaking of Fischer.)

Perhaps Lombardy forgot that Fischer was taught by Carmine Nigro, to whom Bobby even dedicated his first book to <To my chess teacher, Carmine Nigro>. No mention of Lombardy in that dedication. Bobby studied with Nigro unto 1956, when Nigro moved to Florida. And then Bobby began training with the masters that showed up at John Collins's Hawthorne CC that he ran from his house. Lombardy was one of those regular masters.

Many articles since then have touted Nigro as Bobby's teacher; Bobby repeating it several times in articles himself.

So, Father Lombardy, I hate to tell you, sir, that your claim is a lie. You never made that ridiculous claim while Bobby was alive to correct you.

You were not his teacher. You were just someone he played chess with and studied with. One of many.

It is what it is.

Jan-18-18  technical draw: <You never made that ridiculous claim while Bobby was alive to correct you.>

Or its causes.

morfishine: <TheFocus> Great! I've read all four books of his Overland series (Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna & Cold Harbor) and am anxiously awaiting his work on the Petersburg siege.

I think the release of his Petersburg work has been delayed, probably due to the mammoth amount of material required and the length of the siege (9 months compared to the previous 4 books which covers ~6 weeks total).

It's good to see you active in the <Biographer's Bistro> again.

I thought of you today because I just finished packing up and mailing off the last of my chess history books. All told, eight boxes and it cost over 300 dollars to mail them all.

Once I get those books safe again in Canada I'm never moving them again.

I am not at all interested in the OMV debate. I just pass those posts on by.

<Nisj> won't pay for his own forum, or else got his forum shut down for violations (<tpstar> hinted at that).

So he wants to use OPFs (other people's forums) to attack and criticize.

I did the same as you, put him on ignore.

<BP> won't do that, but at least <BP> might apply moderation to <Nisj>.

But <Nisj> has lost three posting locations in the last couple of days, since <jess>, you and I all put him on ignore.

He's making friends fast...

TheFocus: If I post this elsewhere, it may get deleted, so...

I got along reasonably well with Daniel. I got suspended about a dozen times and I didn't complain to him about them. I deserved to be suspended each time.

But, Daniel could be a hypocrite with many posters. He had favorites and he allowed them to do things that he suspended others for. He was publicly called out about it many times, and you all know that.

He publicly accused me of doing something that I showed I was not involved in in any way and all he could say was "Yeah, I didn't really look into it, but I blamed you anyway." (That is paraphrased, but that is the gist of it).

He built a great site and I hope that it continues. I am sad that he is gone.

Yeah, that is essentially true the best I can recall. On a similar note, I spent some time as a union rep and would be infuriated when people would face discipline based upon stuff that had already been adjudicated/their history/reputation etc and that is pretty much what got you nailed then. Nobody's perfect. Daniel overall had a pretty good batting average.
