Little Chess Partner
New game with White   New Game with Black   Analysis Mode
Welcome to Little ChessPartner by LokaSoft, a chess engine you can play online from your web browser. There's nothing to download or install--to get started, simply click on one of the buttons above. Little Chess Partner

You can also use Little Chess Partner to analyze a chess position. Just click on the Analysis Mode button and then you will be allowed to enter the position in FEN format. (If you don't know what FEN is, or just need a refresher, please review our handy tutorial FEN Made Easy.) The software will try to play the best move in the specified position, and then allow you to continue playing the game from that point.

This software was developed by the Dutch company LokaSoft, the makers of the very strong ChessPartner software. The online version here plays at only a small fraction of the strength of the PC version of ChessPartner, due to the limitations of Java. However, on the very fastest desktop computers, Little ChessPartner may play at approximately an expert rating (2000 Elo).

This game is written in the Java programming language and your browser must have Java in order for it to operate. If your browser does not have Java, you should go to java.com and download the latest version.

NOTE: Chessgames.com did not create Little Chess Partner, and cannot provide support for it. It is provided here as a free service to chess fans around the world, thanks to the generosity of LokaSoft. If you have any suggestions or comments, you may contact LokaSoft directly.

OTHER CHESS PROGRAMS YOU CAN PLAY ONLINE:
  • Jester Chess - A very strong opponent. Has an option for playing Shuffle Chess (similar to Fischerandom) called "Throne of Chaos."
  • Thinking Machine 4 - This program, although a weak player, is equipped with a beautiful graphic display that provides a window into the computer's thinking process.
  • WebChess - Play against the GNU Chess engine on the web.
  • Sparkchess - A beautiful 3D board that you can play online.
  • Java Chess - Another java-based chess engine.
  • FreeArcade Chess - If you find the other chess games difficult, try this one. We estimate its playing strength to be that of a turnip.
