GrahamClayton: Van Wijgerden is heavily involved with the "Steps" method of teaching chess:

Jan-02-13  bystander: During the 50th Groningen Chess tournement, Cor van Wijgerden received the so called "Euwe Ring". This ring stands for important contributions in the Dutch chess community. After five years the owner of the ring should hand it over. So far, the next players have own this ring: Max Euwe (1976), Hans Bouwmeester (1983), Jan Timman (1991; I could not find out is there was anybody in between?) Hans Bohm (1996) Hans Ree (2001), Genna Sosonko (2007). Cor van Wijgerden is well kown for his training activities. Congratulations.
