plang: No, but I have his book on the 68 candidates which is great. He also wrote a book (with Golembek) on the 65 candidate matches which I have been looking for for years.

Joshka: <plang> Wow, thanks for posting!! Okay wasn't aware he wrote in 68 or 65. Is his 68 book very similar to Byrne's 74 match book? If it is, I've got to get it! I'll keep my eye out for the 65 book as well, and let you know what I come up with. If I can get 2 copies, I'll get one for ya!..thanks in advance

plang: Well, good luck; I have done an intensive search for years including at one point contacting Cafferty himself. There must be copies out there somewhere. Since I have never actually seem the 65 book I am not sure of its format. The only way I know about it is that it is mentioned in the 68 book. What I like about 68 book is that it has analysis and comments by several GMs/analysts (although not by the players themselves). I am always interested in seeing how different experts view the same position.

Joshka: <Plang> I'll see what I can do, yes I agree, it's interesting to see how other masters view the same positions!
Oct-06-08   GrahamClayton: Cafferty co-wrote with Mark Taimanov "The Soviet Championships" (Cadogan Books, 1998), which is an excellent overview of the history of the USSR Chess Championship tournaments.
