Deepan Chakkravarthy is going gr8 guns, with 7/9, with a perfo of 2675, and is set to gain 28 ELO as of now, he can get his final GM norm here, pretty easily.....

<chessgames.com> can u update the name to Chakkravarthy? there's a double 'k' there.... http://fide.com/ratings/card.phtml?...

Apr-09-06   samsal27: Deepan's training with Ubilava is really showing in his performance. First a gerat display at the ONGC Cup and now this ...
Apr-10-06   VishyFan: Ubilava is improving some gud players now....., Harikrishna improved his openings by working with Ubilava and now Deepan...
Apr-10-06   VishyFan: Deepan has secured his 3rd and final GM Norm, a 10-game norm, according to the AICF website...... http://www.indianchessfed.com/43rdN...
Apr-14-06   VishyFan: Deepan is going gr8 guns and has a gr8 chance of becoming the National Champion......, Go Deepan!

Following him closely for the Olympiad slots are Venkatesh, DP Singh, Ganguly and Humpy.....

on a different note, Neelotpal is joint first with 6.5/8 in the San Sebastian Open and is set to gain his final GM Norm and with that the GM Title, if he can get at least a draw against Prie Eric (ELO: 2475) of France with white pieces....

I bet Neelotpal will be the 14th GM for India, after Deepan has garnered his final GM Norm earlier in the week in the National 'A' to become the 13th GM for India .....

_

Apr-16-06   VishyFan: Deepan gets a break in the 18th round as he was scheduled to play Bakre and still leads with 13/17.....

Ganguly won easily against Shivanandan to get close to Deepan with 12.5/17....

It's getting close at the top....

Apr-18-06   VishyFan: Deepan Chakkravarthy is the biggest loser, after his 2 losses in the last 2 rounds, he ended up in the 5th place and did not qualify for the indian team for the olympiad....

The gud thing for him is that he has now gained all three GM-Norms and gained 38.3 ELO from the tournament..., just need to get some more ELO, before he can be declared a GM.....
