DANIIL YUFFA
(born Feb-25-1997) Russia

[what is this?]
He is a FIDE master who once spent some time in the Alberta region of Canada. He is also an IM-elect with 3 IM norms, needing to achieve a rating of 2400 to have his title ratified.

Age championships Daniil Yuffa came =2nd in the European U10 2007 with 7/9 behind Kirill Alekseenko and Mikhail Antipov (defeating the latter). Yuffa also competed in the 2009 World U12 Championship, scoring 5.5/9 and coming =19th

Tournaments He came third in the Tyumen region Championship 2009 with 7/9 behind co-leaders Veniamin Sergeev and GM Dmitry Chuprov (against whom he drew). Subsequently, he was 2nd in the 2010 Tyumen Open with 8/9, dropping his only game to the winner FM Alexander A Kopylov. Although unplaced, he gained some high level experience and excellent rating results in the 2010 Czech Opens A and F; in the former he scored 4/9 against 4 FMs and 4 IMs, scoring 2.5/4 against the FMs and 1.5/4 against the IMs, including a win against IM Atanu Lahiri. He came =2nd in the Tyumen Region Championship 2010 with 7/9 and recorded his first win against a GM when he beat Andrei Kovalev in the Superfinal 65 Tumen region 2010: his 4.5/10 against a field of 10 opponents whose average ELO was 2449 was a solid result that has pushed him to the top ranks of U14 players. Subsequent excellent results have boosted his position considerably; he won the Olomouc Summer IM B1 tournament in August 2011 in the Czech Republic with 7.5/9, two points clear of the field and scoring his first IM norm, and scored 5.5/9 in the Pardubice Czech Open in July 2011, scoring IM norms in both events. He scored 5/9 at the 2011 Chigorin Memorial Open.

In 2012 so far, he played at level when he scored 5/9 in the Tyumen Championship Superfinal in Russia, but put in a solid performance at the Aeroflot Open 2012 B, scoring 4.5/9. In March, he scored 6/9, placing =7th at the 2012 Ural Championships held in Satka, Russia and scored 5/11 in the Russian Chess Championships Higher League (2012) to give his rating a minor boost.

Olympiad He played board 4 for Russia 5 in the Chess Olympiad (2010), scoring 4/10, including draws against GM Dragisa Blagojevic and GM Tomas Petrik, and recording wins against IM Richard Polaczek and IM Filip Pancevski.
