| whatthefat: An amazing performance by Smerdon!
Good luck to him in the last round, though it seems Rogers has a slightly easier draw for the last game.Hopefully Zhao can win his last game too - he's had a dodgy tournament, but he's a LOT stronger than that. I'm expecting a race between him and Smerdon to be the next aussie GM! |
 |
| Feb-21-06 |
| Runemaster: <Chnebelgrind> I'm sure that Smerdon is now wishing he hadn't tried to create such a spectacular game, after his early 10.Bxf7+ sacrifice went badly wrong. |

| Ken MacGillivray: David scored his third and final GM norm at the Czech Open in Pardubice this week. It only requires the formalities of approval by FIDE and he will become the third Australian to attain the prestigious, Chess Grand Master, title. |

| cinematic: Despair: Time for the next generation of GM's, Rogers was great for 20 years, Smerdon, Wang and young Max Illingworth are the future of Australian chess. |
 |
| Sep-22-07 |
| Where is my mind: Who is Wang? Don't forget Moulthun Ly, he's playing in the Isle of Man tournament, where he might get his third IM norm.Smerdon is also competing. |
 |
| Dec-30-07 |
| Manic: Hehe, I think <cinematic> meant Zhao, but because its a chinese name and 2 of the top players in China are named Wang, he put Wang. Or maybe there is some super kid that is coming up through the ranks. |

David has already got three GM norms and has represented his country in two Olympiads. He also plays in the Netherlands league for almost six months in a year.
