Born in Swan River, Manitoba, this FIDE master (1987) later lived in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. He won the Ontario open in 1970. In 1984, he tied for 1st at the Canadian Open Championship. He represented Canada at the 1971 World Students' Team Championship and the 1987 Szirak Interzonal. He represented Canada in the 1968 (4th board), 1980 and 1986 (Captain) Chess Olympiads and accumulated 7.5 points in 18 team games.
