| Mar-29-05 | | Kajtek: I agree, there's no such thing as april fools week |
| Mar-29-05 | | Backward Development: regarding the joke, Dennis has published a write-up on cb.com <http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp...; I agree there's no such thing as 'April Fool's Week', but with regard to staying up until 4 am, I think you should have taken the story with a grain of sand. |
| Mar-29-05 | | Phoenix: Hardy har, har, har, Dennis. I hope I get a chance to play you in a tournament, someday... >:-) |
| Mar-29-05 | | Knezh: Yep, this joke does show Monokroussos as somenoe with plenty of attitude. |
| Mar-30-05 | | Morphy Fan: plenty of attitude - no class, no integrity and willing to yank people around to try and get ratings. in retrospect, people say it was obvious - but comeon, the most silly part of the story (Fischer in a van riding around Vegas) turns out to be true...that is if anything this "person" says is true. Easy to be seen as a joke - no, because this is Fischer after all!! |
| Mar-30-05 | | Dustin J.: <Morphy Fan> I agree! The reason I downed a shaker of salt everytime my dreams at the thought of a real game was the backstory. Why would Fischer be in a van, in '87 with Filipino GMs before he fled the US, it doesn't seem logical? Yeah, I was hoping, I even downloaded chessbase to watch, but got distracted and said, if it's true it'll be up in about an hour anyway, so I left. It was a good choice in retrospect. |
| Mar-30-05 | | mack: You know, I could have sworn April Fools day jokes were meant to be funny. Maybe it's an Amerian thing. |
| Mar-30-05 | | Phoenix: No, mack, it's not an American thing. Most Americans celebrate April Fool's Day on April 1 just like everyone else. It's our chessplayers you have to watch out for. |
| Mar-30-05 | | JustAFish: < I think you should have taken the story with a grain of sand. > .... particularly since the online archives of each Monokroussos lecture are updated imediately following the lecture. For 2 whole ducats (around 0.20 $US), one could have watched the whole thing at a more reasonable hour. I do this quite a bit myself, finding 9:00 p.m. a bit too early for my tastes... :-) |
| Mar-30-05 | | PizzatheHut: <ray keene><my opinion of this character just fell thru the floor-april fools day is one thing -aprils fools week doesnt exist except in this guys fevered imagination.i dont think this was funny at all. if his excuse is that his radio show is only on mondays then he cd have asked chessbase for permission to publish his wonderfully clever idea as an article on april 1-then we cd all have had a good laugh instead of being awake at unearthly hours -in march-waiting for a pile of*** > This post made me laugh out loud. The problem is I was in class at the time :) |
| Nov-14-06 | | GufeldStudent: Lighten up, guys. Jesus, one practical joke and you all get pissy. |
Jun-12-08
 | | WannaBe: Quite amazing what the guys at CG.com can do with my horrible pictures!! :-) |
| Sep-05-08 | | momus: Ray Keene, not smart enough to be THE real Ray Keene.
Mr Monokroussos (spelt correctly??)sounds just a little Monokroussos to me. |

<A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.> http://chessmind.powerblogs.com/ |
| Jun-22-09 | | fromoort: Dennis is at 1.5/4 at the 21st North American FIDE Invitational event taking place at Chicago. |
| Jun-23-09 | | fromoort: Dennis is now at 1.5/5. |
| Jun-23-09 | | Nietzowitsch: Skill comes with practice. |
| May-08-10 | | jkd138: Dennis is the most self-conceited, arrogant person I have ever met BY FAR. He only respects players based on chess skill. If your rating is below 400 points from his, he will not respect you (99% of the time). You may not be able to detect his HUGE ego problem by his videos but that's ONLY because in the case better players than him are listening in. |

Dec-29-11
 | | Richard Taylor: < jkd138: Dennis is the most self-conceited, arrogant person I have ever met BY FAR. > You attack him but don't give your own name. That is called cowardice. |
Dec-29-11
 | | Richard Taylor: Regardless, he does some very interesting videos on Chess from which I learnt a lot. |
Dec-29-11
 | | parmetd: As someone who has housed Dennis, I can say Mr jkd138 is speaking out his -----. |
| Dec-29-11 | | James Bowman: <jkd138> Was a one time troll, I wouldn't take it too serious guys. <parmetd> Just curious are you a Hoosier by chance as I know Dennis hails from the South Bend Indiana region. |
Dec-29-11
 | | parmetd: I live in a Chicago suburb but I invited Dennis to play in one tournament that I ran. He stayed with me. Also, I have had dinner with him and Jim Dean many times when they participated in norm tournaments run by Sevan in Skokie, IL. I also donate to Dennis' blog yearly because I appreciate the work he does and I do not want him to stop. Are you a Hoosier? |
Dec-31-11
 | | Richard Taylor: His videos are great and that is not only his own games. I learnt a lot from his own games, US and other games, and the way he got the watcher to stop and work out the moves. Haven't met him as he is in the US ...
But whatever, give credit where credit is due. |
