Dec-13-06  Karpova: She's a great talent!
Born in 1991 with a current rating of 2415 and already a WGM. At this year's Russian women's championship she scored 7.5/11 and shares second place with the Kosintseva-sisters.

Another picture of hers?

Mar-24-10  stanleys: Horrible news - Elena died a week ago :((((((((

(I found the information here - Russian))

Mar-24-10  Birthday Boy: oh! this is terrible dying at such a young age...

RIP Elena

Mar-24-10  Birthday Boy: thanks <stanleys> for informing us.

Late last night it is very sad news - March 16, died talented chess Russia Elena Tairov. She studied at the 1-year student Российс&- #1082;ого State Social University, she was only 18 years. His short but brilliant way in chess Lena began in Minsk, where he was engaged in SDUSHOR number 11 and reached the candidate master. Then she and her mother moved to Ryazan, and later to Moscow, and Russia took citizenship. Already in the 14 years Tairov became an international grandmaster among women, and 15 - men's international master. In 10 years in her age category Lena won the world championship, she repeated this success in 14 years. In this, quite a young age Tairov became champion of Russia among girls under 20 years. In 2006 and 2007, she became a double silver medalist Superfinal championship of Russia among women, not once was part of the national team. Rumors about her illness crept in early 2008. While Lena missed several important competitions. But then again, she started playing in tournaments. In June last year Tairov won the super league championship of Russia. Back in September after winning the championship of Moscow in rapid chess, Lena was full of plans for the future, but in December to participate in the Super Final has not been able ... We bring our deepest and sincere condolences to the families and friends of Elena Tairova.

Mar-24-10  dx9293: This is truly horrible. She was so young.

She knew she was ill, obviously, but she kept trying to go on anyway and play in the tournaments.

I just saw the article on ChessBase and the pictures, and I am really moved. She seems like a nice, hardworking young girl. After all, she is not that much younger than I.

Mar-24-10  Karpova: Rest in Peace, IM / WGM Elena Tairova
