percyblakeney: L'Ami is having a very good year, beating both van Wely and van der Wiel in the Dutch Championships (as black). At the moment he's the sole leader in Gausdal, where he's rated to finish in the bottom half of the field: http://home.online.no/~eirikgu/gaus...

acirce: Estimated rating gain on the next list is 29.5, and Gausdal is of course not yet counted then. He has also been gaining rating all the time for a year, so it seems obvious that he is underrated (2486 right now).

percyblakeney: Still leading with two rounds to go after +4 -0 =3.
Sep-30-04   simsan: After less than 30 minutes of play L'Ami secured his GM Norm with a draw in the 8th round at Gausdal.

babakova: He has a strange surname, does anyone know how it is pronounced?
Jan-25-06   nescio: <babakova: He has a strange surname, does anyone know how it is pronounced?>

I do. It is French for "the friend". Pronounced like "lahmy" with emphasis on the last letter.

Apr-18-07   bystander: No bio of Erwin L'Ami?
In April 2007 he passed the ELO 2600 mark for the first time (2617). On January 2000 his Elo was 2301.
Jul-26-07   geraldo8187: according to chessvibes.com, this man has been suspected of cheating in the dutch open or something. anyone know details?

achieve: <geraldo> I just read it and it seems a joke, winking towards the Tour de France scandal headlines -- like accusing L'Ami of spending too much time on opening prep for his second round (?!) and taking him off the staff. All nonsense of course, but a bit funny.. ;-)
Jul-26-07   geraldo8187: got it, thanks achieve
Jul-29-07   PaulKeres: I don't like the Chessvibes article actually. I think its not obvious its a joke, though its seems it is. And also there are many people who wouldn't read the article all the way through, just see the headline and think L'Ami has cheated.

I'm very surprised that L'Ami agreed to the article. I'd like chessvibes to post another article indicating that it was in fact a joke, because i think its too clever by half, and many people don't see it as a joke.

MarkThornton: This game features one of the most spectacular TNs I have ever seen in my life. It should be in the notable games section for Erwin l'Ami:
