"Internationaler Meister, wie Ahues aus Berlin über die HSG zu uns gekommen, war der Spieler des HSK mit den meisten Einsätzen in der deutschen Nationalmannschaft; zwischen 1950 und 1960 nahm er an allen Olympiaden teil. Seine Caro-Cann-Verteidigung war fast unbezwingbar. Leider hat er sich in den 60er Jahren früh vom Turnierschach zurückgezogen."
