May-28-04  ruylopez900: <chessgames.com> I do believe the full name is Ian Snape, the author of Chess Endings made simple. He was a fairly good junior player, retired to banking, then came back as a correspondence player as well as weekend swiss player. He might be a titled correspondence player but I'm not sure.

Gypsy: The cover of his end-game book claims that he is an ICCF IM and has a GM norm under his belt. The book is good.
Jul-01-04  weary willy: I L Snape ... flourished as a junior in the late 60s and 70s ... must be aged about 53-55.
Jul-01-04  qqq: Professor snape from
hogwarts?
Jul-01-04  nikolaas: He is inded a IM in correspondance chess. you can buy his book here http://www.chessdirect.co.uk/acatal... But I didn't found any biography.
Jul-13-04  ruylopez900: <Gypsy> Yes, it is quite good. Mostly basic stuff for tournament play, doesn't go deeply into Rook endings, but it shows Q v. Q, Q+P v. P, N+B v. -, B v. B (opp col.), R+P v. R etc. etc.
Jul-13-04  dac1990: No, <qqq>, not professor snape. *restraing laughter*
Nov-20-06  ChesterTheJester: He goes to my club, is v strong player. Nice guy also.
May-02-07  orangelights: Comeon Muggles! This is Professor Snape as evidenced by his masterful treatment of the Dragon variation in Robert Willmoth vs Ian Snape.
Jul-20-07  Whitehat1963: Brother of Severus. But the real question is, is he good or evil?

DarthStapler: If only he played a game against someone named Dumbledore and won, then if it was GOTD the pun could be "Hey! Snape kills Dumbledore!"

Mar-18-10  ChessKnightsOfLondon: I've beaten Master Snape on the three occasions we've met :-)
