Jul-30-03   hickchess99: i always thought it was "of nazareth" but noguieras works too
Sep-05-04   DanielBryant: Quite the drawing master. It's appropriate- Jesus said "blessed are the peacemakers."
Dec-21-04   Novice713: Jesus - that is, differences in pronunciation notwithstanding.

Dec-09-06   Rocafella: Jesus is from Cuba? That ought to make for an interesting correction to the bible.
Feb-04-07   IMDONE4: Haha... I just typed Jesus in, and never knew he was actually a grandmaster. Not bad for the old guy.

WarmasterKron: <DanielBryant> Blessed are the cheesemakers?
Feb-18-07   Whitehat1963: <Jesus is from Cuba? That ought to make for an interesting correction to the bible.>

To say nothing of history books. You know, Columbus, 1492 and all that.

Perhaps we have more information in the Gospel of Judas.

Feb-18-07   Whitehat1963: <Jesus is from Cuba? That ought to make for an interesting correction to the bible.>

I'm sure some who played him between about 1910 and 1936 might have thought that Capablanca was his reincarnation!

Marmot PFL: He looks like another prodigy whose interest in chess declined as an adult, if the number of short draws is any indication.
May-26-07   tonsillolith: <Marmot PFL> how dare you make a serious comment about chess when everyone else is humorously making the connection between his name and that of a historic figure!
May-26-07   LPeristy: <<WarmasterKron> Blessed are the cheesemakers?>

Clearly it's not meant to be taken literally. He's clearly referring to all makers of dairy products.

Jun-11-07   cyruslaihy: Jesus said: peace, be still, i want a quiet positional game, not a tactical melee

Peligroso Patzer: What a spectacular attack Nogueiras played in the game featured as today's GotD!: Hjartarson vs J Nogueiras, 1988.

He also has the distinction of being the winner in the GotD (from Christmas Day 2005) with my all-time favorite pun: J Nogueiras vs M Gongora, 2001
