John J. O'Hanlon was born in Portadown, Ulster and died in Dublin, Ireland. In his youth, he competed in rowing and swimming events. He was nine times Irish Chess champion, the first time in 1913 and the last in 1940. He played on Olympic teams at Paris 1924, Warsaw 1935 and Buenos Aires 1939.

Dec-04-04  kostich in time: O'Hanlon had a long career- he must have played SOME good games..couldnt Chessgames find any? Interesting, the Irish have never been that strong at Chess.
