Kibitzer's Corner
May-26-05   valerianus: I believe this is the same person as Yul. Yakovich, who partook in this year's Russian Championship for women. What a curious phenomenon: She finds herself at the bottom of the table with a performance rating of 2097 (29 points better than her rating entering the tournament, which was 2068), and she scores 1.5/12. 0.5 of those 1.5 points, however, came from none other than the eventual winner, Alexandra Kosteniuk. (Yakovich, to her credit, did the only thing tail-lenders seem to be good at, which is to beat the person directly above her in the standings, which she did).
