|Jun-12-08|| ||chancho: I can imagine him in the great beyond having a ball and playing blitz with the likes of Tal, Fischer, and Petrosian. Rest in Peace.|
|Jun-12-08|| ||Riverbeast: RIP GM Asrian!
You achieved quite a bit in your (too short) life
|Jun-15-08|| ||Atking: I want to congratulate the armenian people for their dignity to have rename their tournament in the memory of their great player Asrian.|
|Jun-15-08|| ||DUS: <dazone3> indeed some time they do not come up. Also there are so many news each day it is not easy to find the one you need.|
|Jun-15-08|| ||DUS: A chessbase report on GM Karen Asrian memorial.
|Jun-15-08|| ||DUS: In previous link you may see a photo of IM Lilit Mkrtchian and GM Katerina Lahno (the very last photo).
Here is the final report of chessbase.
|Jun-17-08|| ||DUS: Sorry for too many postings, but I think the following link is interesting... |
|Jun-18-08|| ||pawn to QB4: No need at all to be sorry for your postings: thanks for that link, and my best wishes to all who loved or admired Karen Asrian. The author of that sympathetic piece is an Iranian master who came to England and left a lot of good memories, at much the same time as England and chessgames' own Nigel Short was teaching in Iran.|
|Jul-17-08|| ||Jafar219: He was good player.|
|Nov-25-08|| ||DUS: Below I copy a nice posting of <Ezzy> from the page of Chess Olympiad 2008 because the posting concerns to Karen Asrian too who was a member of Armenian team in 2006.|
<Nov-25-08 Ezzy: Astounding effort again by Armenia!!. To retain the title against the worlds best, is a major achievement which will be remembered by all chess enthusiasts all over the world.
I think this ranks as one of the greatest achievements of a chess nation. Sargissian is just plainly "Mr Olympiad." He is making this event his own. But it's about the whole team.
A great tribute to Karen Asrian. They did it again just for him!
Congratulations to Armenia, a great chess nation!!>
|Apr-24-09|| ||wordfunph: We've got the same birthday GM Karen Asrian but unfortunately we lost a terrific GM like you..|
Happy Birthday GM Asrian!!!
|Jul-09-09|| ||myschkin: . . .
Vor meinem Tod ist mir nicht bang,
nur vor dem Tod derer,
die mir nah sind.
Wie soll ich leben,
wenn sie nicht mehr da sind?
Der weiß es wohl,
dem Gleiches widerfuhr,
Und die es trugen,
mögen mir vergeben.
Bedenkt, den eignen Tod,
den stirbt man nur,
doch mit dem Tod des andern
muss man leben.
|Jun-30-10|| ||Jafar219: <He died of a heart attack in 2008 at the age of 28>|
No, it was suicide.
|Jun-30-10|| ||wordfunph: <Jafar219: <He died of a heart attack in 2008 at the age of 28>|
No, it was suicide.>
<Jafar219> heart attack and not suicide..
|Jul-05-10|| ||Jafar219: <heart attack and not suicide..>|
Can you prove it?
|Jul-05-10|| ||Winter: It says here that he lost consciousness while driving... possibly heart attack.|
The burden of proof is now in your hand <jafar>. Show us why it was suicide.
|Jul-06-10|| ||alexmagnus: I see absolutely no reasons for suicide, but... heart attack at the age of 28? Was he known for heart problems prior to his death?|
|Oct-16-10|| ||ketchuplover: www.chessbase.com has a report on the third memorial tournament (ended 10-14-10)|
|Jun-10-11|| ||FSR: <alexmagnus: I see absolutely no reasons for suicide, but... heart attack at the age of 28? Was he known for heart problems prior to his death?>|
He wasn't anorexic, was he? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_...
|Jun-10-11|| ||perfidious: <FSR> Did you ever deal with Wildhartlivie on Wikipedia? She was something else.|
Always a shock to see someone go while so young, when they aren't an athlete or drug user. Long ago, I knew a girl even younger than Asrian was at his death who was heavily into coke, had a heart attack and almost didn't make it.
|Jun-10-11|| ||FSR: <perfidious> No, I never dealt with her. I did adopt a couple of handles like "FatNonVirgin" and used them to comment on a Featured Article Nomination by SlimVirgin. They were both nuked with stunning alacrity.|
|Jun-10-11|| ||perfidious: <FSR> FatNonVirgin, indeed! ROFL|
Funny-I'd never heard of SlimVirgin till now. 'Course, I'll bet she never got involved in chess and the like.
|Jun-10-11|| ||FSR: <perf> Actually, she did some (non-substantive) editing on my chess articles as I recall, particularly the two that got to Featured Article status. Google SlimVirgin; it's very interesting. There's a whole weird world of Wikipedia politics out there.|
|Jun-10-11|| ||chessthomas: <myschkin>
thank you very much for posting
the poem of Mascha Kaleko.
I had never heard of her before,
and I may say that I am very impressed.
