Feb-04-06   stanleys: Congratulations from me too.Kiril deserved his victory!I hope he will get some points from this tournament, because 2645 doesn't reflect his class.
Mar-26-06   gulliver: After Aeroflot , in what tournament is Kiril going to play in or is he playing now in some tournament ?

Thanks to all the great contributors in this page. Great info about a chess player that I value his play much.

iron maiden: He's confirmed for next month's European Championship in Turkey. http://www.tsf.org.tr/index.php?opt...
Mar-31-06   DanRoss53: Kiril D Georgiev will tentatively gain 32 points on FIDE's April rating list. This will propel him an unheard of 36 places: from 62nd overall to 26th overall.

twinlark: <DanRoss53> Spot on. He was the big improver in the top 100. Jobava's leap from under 100 to 65 was equally noteworthy.
Apr-16-06   stanleys: Congratulations to Kiril for winning the bronze medal at European Championship!
Apr-17-06   Petrosian63: Georgiev has played really well in the last couple months which can be seen in his huge jump in the April FIDE Ratings.

Congrats on his Bronze.

Dec-19-06   borkoto: I think K. Georgiev should continue playing the Dragon.......he knows every hidden line of the opening
Dec-19-06   borkoto: I guess many GMs will think twice before playing e4 to meet the Dragon

Dec-19-06   borkoto: I am posting this game cause there is a very curious incident in it - this is the decisive tie-breaker between Vaganian and K. Georgiev at the WCh Blitz in 1988.The winner secures a place in the grand final to meet the mighty Tal. there is nothing strange about the whole game - Vaganian having the white reaches a winning endgame Rpp vs R. Suddenly on move 62 Vaganian pushes his side pawn to a discovered check and Georgiev snaps up his king - a shocker. It is all according to the rules of blitz at that time. All but for the fact Vaganian didn't press his clock. So the reffere let him make another move and he won the game. Unfortunately no one had explained this clock rule to Georgiev in Bulgarian or Russian (he didnt speak English at that time).Georgiev was so fired up coming off a shocking match in which he defeated Kasparov 2.5 :0.5 that he was becoming the favourite. So no matter right or wrong Vaganian advanced to the final and lost to Tal. [Event "Wch blitz"]

Feb-10-07   jhoro: on Feb 3th & 4th, 2007 <Kiril Georgiev> played 2 games man-vs-machine against a modified version of Crafty called <CraftyNovus>. Crafty was running on some beefy hardware (2 Dual Core Xeon 2.33GHz for total of 4 CPU's) provided by the main sponsor "Rent IT" from UK. This Crafty version (v20.12.r7) features additional pruning methods and "Rybka's evaluation extension". Crafty was crunching over 10 mil positions per sec. Despite the horsepower this time the man won! <The result was 1.5-0.5 for Kiril Georgiev>.

Thanks for the information.
So it's still possible to play against these monsters!Congratulations to Kiril

Apr-03-07   borkoto: Did really K. Georgiev lose out to Holzke Frank(2300) - cause looking at the game I thought they must be reverse colors...too many opening mistakes by white and exchanging queen for a rook with no counterplay - seems ridiculous, pls confirm cuase the official page doesnt say much
Apr-03-07   borkoto: I stand corrected - Frank is at 2470 but not a GM and has a win against Kasparov with black also...
Jun-28-07   Eti fan: Nice interview with Kiril http://interviews.chessdom.com/kiri...
Nov-28-07   onemorechessplayer: Happy birthday !
