LUTZ ESPIG

Lutz Espig was born in Griez, East Germany. He was East German champion in 1969, 1971 and 1988 (= Thomas Paehtz Sr). Espig was awarded the IM title in 1972 and the GM title in 1983. In tournaments he was 1st at Lublin 1970, 1st at Varna 1976, 2nd at Halle 1982, 1st at Varna 1983, 3rd= at Leipzig 1983 and 2nd at the Eger Open in 1987.
