<Postscript on the theme of overheard conversationsAt the recent, and last, <Lloyds Bank Masters>, I achieved my final IM norm and, having scored 2/4 against GM opposition, was well satisfied with my performance. The following conversation took place between GMs Mark Hebden and Patrick Wolff.
<Hebden>: "Who've you just played?"
<Wolff>: "Somebody called Turner."
<Hebden>: "Oh, you played Matthew...he doesn't know much theory but can be tricky in the middle game."
<Wolff>: "It's interesting you should say that."
<Hebden>: "Why?"
<Wolff>: "His opening was CRAP!!"
At least I know where I stand in the grand order of things.>
