Bacrot @ 2700 is not overrated at all.... perhaps his current rating is a bit too high but he will stay over 2700 for a few years more. Any player > 2600 ELO is talented imho. <wich is nothing great with a 2670 average opposition.> Nothing great? |

About his spectacular style, I remember having read an article in Europe-Echecs where he explained that one of his first chess books was 'Les prix de beauté aux Echecs' by Le Lionnais and that this book had a great influence on him and his conception of chess. |

| Solon: I just had a look at R Fontaine vs M Vachier Lagrave, 2007 to see what all the fuss was about. I guess you guys have all seen it. And what a wonderful game it was. He was a little bit lucky. Not lucky to win, but lucky that the game turned out to be so beautiful. There was no way he could have known this when he sacrificed his queen. I really hope this guy keeps up the good work and turn out to be just as ambitious as all WC materials are. |
