Mar-25-06   vesivialvy93: <notyetagm> no ! he said that he will play only in france this year ( europe echecs)
Mar-25-06   s4life: <Minotaurus: Bacrot seemed to be one of those talented ones, but now we see the <truth>, he is overrated and not talented, having achieved so far the AeroFlot, > Bacrot @ 2700 is not overrated at all.... perhaps his current rating is a bit too high but he will stay over 2700 for a few years more. Any player > 2600 ELO is talented imho.

<wich is nothing great with a 2670 average opposition.>

Nothing great?

Jun-17-06   Avion: Lesiège fait d'autres choses de sa vie...genre, essayer de gagner des sous pour payer son loyer...
Sep-17-06   Wilson H. L.: Curently tying the first place at Lausanne, that's quite a good score (even if he drawn most of his games).

Peligroso Patzer: If I am not mistaken, missing from Vachier-Lagrave's biography is a first place finish in this year's Lausanne Young Masters.
Oct-31-06   Whitehat1963: Maybe this guy should be the Player of the Day today. Great name.

Nozomi: I like guys who can vary it up a bit...unfortunately looking at Lagrave's repertoire he seems a little lacking, for example playing e4 100% of the time with white. Hopefully he can branch out a bit!
Dec-03-06   vesivialvy93: This young player will become a B.I.G problem for strong gm.....since couples of months he never stopped his incredible progression....watch out ! he is not another Josh Waitzkin flame out , this guy is for real and will be stronger than Lautier and Bacrot in the next 5 -6 years.
Dec-15-06   vesivialvy93: ...We won't see him smiling until he become world champion...

Marmot PFL: French champion at 17 (actually 16 when he won)is that right? Impressive. I bicycled through his birth place on the way to Paris, many years before he was born.

Peligroso Patzer: <Peligroso Patzer: *** missing from Vachier-Lagrave's biography is a first place finish in this year's [2006] Lausanne Young Masters.>

That item is still missing from Maxime's CG biography, and, more significantly, so is his title as 2007 French Champion.

Mar-05-08   Bidibulle: More games of MVL are available (thank you qui ?, thank you me). About his spectacular style, I remember having read an article in Europe-Echecs where he explained that one of his first chess books was 'Les prix de beauté aux Echecs' by Le Lionnais and that this book had a great influence on him and his conception of chess.

percyblakeney: Vachier-Lagrave keeps doing well and is improving on his 2681 rating at the moment, with a 2862 performance as sole leader in Paris with 5.5/6 (after beating among others Kosteniuk). Three rounds to go:

percyblakeney: Vachier-Lagrave won the tournament in Paris, with draws in the last rounds he stays below 2700 but being 2690+ and not yet 18 might soon get him one or two invitations to top events.

percyblakeney: Fun to see Vachier-Lagrave in the 2700 club, and he is only around 20 points behind the ten months older Karjakin at the moment.
Aug-04-08   Solon: I just had a look at R Fontaine vs M Vachier Lagrave, 2007 to see what all the fuss was about. I guess you guys have all seen it. And what a wonderful game it was.

He was a little bit lucky. Not lucky to win, but lucky that the game turned out to be so beautiful. There was no way he could have known this when he sacrificed his queen.

I really hope this guy keeps up the good work and turn out to be just as ambitious as all WC materials are.
