I guess there are more pictures of her than of some Hollywood stars... Anyway, she looks like an amiable girl.

  whiteshark: <WannaBe> That's exactly why I didn't translate it. It's a bit flippantly, containing

grin (noun/verb) and cheek

so maybe it's <griny cheek> or <grin cheekie> or maybe s.th deviated <oh grin heck>

if one of these is possible...

Oct-18-07   NakoSonorense: Back off, wannabe.

2007 - 1990 = illegal

(although not for long, xD)

2007 - 1990 = illegal

Legal in many states and the UK. Not sure about Germany.

Oct-18-07   NakoSonorense: Is it legal in California?

Just curious...

keypusher: Based on a 30-second Google, it appears that the age of consent in CA is 18. I've heard the internet occasionally makes mistakes, though, so you should not use this statement as a reliable guide to legal conduct. Offer void where prohibited. Your mileage may vary. Etc. :-)

Good thing I'm too old for her.

Karpova: Nice to see that I could draw some attention to her though her chess skills are not being discussed.

She participated in the German Championships:

2004, U16 (girls)
She came in second with 7.0/9 (the winner Tanja Butschek had the same amount of points) though she was the rating favorite. But it was a very good result nonetheless!

2005, U16 (girls)
She won with 8.0/9 (a clear first place ahead of Manuela Mader with 7.5 and Bianca Albano Jeremias with 6.0). Congratulations to her!

2006, U16 (she competed with the boys!)
She came in 6th with 5.5/9 - an excellent result, for sure!

alexmagnus: Melanie Ohme... 4 times elected for player of the year in U20 girls, 1 time before in U14 girls. Yeah. But I'm a fan of a younger German female player (see my profile:))

benjinathan: I will have to show my young daughter these pictures; they are proof that you do not have to be a geek to play chess.
Oct-19-07   NakoSonorense: But maybe she is. Geekiness cannot be determined solely from a person's appearance. Or can it? :S

Since Bachman is a pen name, King actually occupies the top ten spaces on his top ten list...

benjinathan: <NakoSonorense> I don't think I understand being young anymore, but I think it is OK to be a geek as long as you don't look like one.
Oct-19-07   Jim Bartle: No, no, no. It's OK to look like a geek as long as you aren't one.

dakgootje: geekiness is probably both determined both by appearance as behavious with the interesting sidenote that you are proclaimed geek if you show the prejudiced looks OR behaviour, you don't even need both!
