Benzol: He's heading off to the World Juniors after the Olympiad. It will be interesting to see how he goes.

Benzol: He won the MIT Tournament today ahead of Robert W Smith, Paul Garbett and Leonard McLaren amongst others. Not a bad result for a 12-13 year old.

Benzol: He gave a simul tonight at the HPCC and cleaned up everyone (including yours truly). He's trying to gain the GM title this year so he'll have a very full tournament schedule. Good luck Puchen.

:)

Jan-29-08   jonnymalk: DId he not play in the New Zealand Championship (2008) ?

Benzol: <jonnymalk> I was suprised he didn't participate as he was the defending champion but as he's got a fairly intense year ahead I can see why he didn't.
Feb-25-08   Stanley Yee: <Benzol><jonnymalk>He was due to sit an exam, see http://www.hpchessclub.org.nz/
Mar-08-08   jonnymalk: What's puchen's playing schedule for this year? Is it quite busy? - I've noticed he's playing in Budapest at the moment.

He's going to be very busy.

Other events this year he'll be playing in include :

10th Dubai Open and an Intl Open in Spain during April. In May he plays at the Kaupthing Open in Luxemberg and at Zalakaros in Budapest. In June he's at the Pula Open in Croatia. An Open Intl Tt and an Open Tt in Barcelona in July. The World Juniors are on in August in Turkey and the Open de Santa in Barcelona. Then he'll play in the World Youth Tt in Vietnam in October. The Olympiad is in Germany in November and in January 2009 he'll be back in this part of the world for the Australian Ch and then onto the Queenstown Classic in NZ.

That's a good amount of international chess for anybody. Good thing he's young.

Mar-21-08   CFMEU: He is down to play in the Sydney International Open in a week. Currently playing against Zhong Zhang in the Doeberl Cup in Canberra
May-03-08   CFMEU: He finished 24th out of 106 in Sydney with 5.5 points from nine rounds. +3 =5 -1. Does anyone know where he's playing at the moment?
