Apr-05-07   argishti: A new Armenian prodigy? rated 2351 on the fide list. not bad.
Jun-28-07   ARMENIA: <argishti> He is beyond the prodigy level... Recently school has kept him away from the chess world. (Armenian parents are too strict and want him to have chess as a second choice in life). He has had some huge victories in his short years of playing and if more time devoted I believe much more is to come:)

God Bless Armenia

Jul-02-07   ARMENIA: He has a perfect score in seven rounds played so far and two more to go. He has 7 out of 7! I will let it sink it a second...:)

God Bless Armenia

Sep-21-07   argishti: Wow, lets hope this kid get up to Aronian, cause it would be nice to have 3 people at the super-GM level. :)

Jan-18-08   DUS: Congrats to young chess player Samvel Ter-Sahakyan! All the best and new great victories!

<Young chess player Samvel Ter-Sahakyan after completing an International Master norm also fulfilled a Grandmaster norm after the 9th round of the 68th Armenian Championship.

This is an unprecedented case in the rich history of Armenian chess, when a 14-year-old player fulfills a GM norm.>

May-02-08   DUS: I think in Plovdiv 2008 Europinan Individual Chess Championship the most impressive among representatives of Armenia was young (14 or 15) FM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, who has 7 points, 5 victories perhaps all against GMs! I hope soon he will get a GM title and will be a member of Armenian national team. Perhaps he will play on board # 4 (#1 Levon Aronian, #2 Vladimir Akopian, # 3 Gabriel Sargissian).
May-03-08   hovik2003: <DUS>
He has already been granted a GM title, according to Armenian chess federation, quiet a accomplishment jumping from FM to GM (overpassing IM title) in one competition!, I think this is for first time in FIDE's history.

Open Defence: wow that is impressive
May-06-08   DUS: Congrats to young chess star Samvel Ter-Sahakyan!

<14 year-old Armenian chess player Samvel Ter-Sahakyan achieved a Grandmaster norm at the 9th European Individual Championship held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Ter-Sahakyan had reached such an achievement for the first time in the 68th Armenian Championship in January of this year.

Samvel Ter-Sahakyan will become the youngest Grandmaster in the whole Armenian chess history.>

May-06-08   DUS: The norm was 6.5 points, and Samvel had 7 points.

I wish he will continue to improve as he does now. By the way, he also has a very talented chess teacher. But the most important is the player's talent of course.

<Hovik>, yes he did both IM and GM norms at once, and very young. Really it is impressive.
