| Jun-28-06 | | micahtuhy: I thinnk Sergei's five straight wins in this years Aerosvit GM Tournament is impressive. Any chance his performance in this tournament might raise his Elo enough (13 points) to put him in the 2700 club? |

 | | sapfy: He's still a bit short of 2700. He gained 21 points at Foros, lost 15 at the olympiad, lost a little in the Poikovsky tournament and broke roughly even in the Russian club champhionship. |

 | | ahmadov: I remember some kibitzers harshly criticized Rublevsky when he lost his first game against Mamedyarov with white. Some people even did not refrain from calling him "overrated", although he is one of the players who has plus score against Kasparov. Then this guy turned to win the tournament. Strange lot we kibitzers are... |

 | | ahmadov: <blingice> <I think Liviu Dieter Nisipeanu deserves a photo more than Rublevsky...> I think every player registered on this web site deserves having their photo on their pages. |
| Jul-04-06 | | PinkPanther: <ahmadov>
That's because he only played against Kasparov one damn time, you idiot. That is a meaningless statistic. |
| Jul-05-06 | | marn0: Does the PinkPanther have personal issues with Rublevsky or something!? Sheesh! |
| Jul-05-06 | | PinkPanther: I just have a problem with stupid statistics geared towards influencing people's opinions. To say that Rublevsky has a plus score against Kasparov is true, but it's also rather misleading. |
| Jul-05-06 | | russian bunny: PinkPanther, I agree with you, though I see no need to call him an idiot. |
| Jul-11-06 | | aw1988: It would depend on what context was originally meant and how it was received. Having a plus score may simply be an incidental, or it may be shown to prove that player A is much stronger than player B. Rublevsky's 1-0 score vs Kasparov does not mean much. It could, since that game was played under classical controls and Rublevsky henceforth won, but that evidence is non-existent. |
| Jul-11-06 | | aw1988: Also how games are decided is a big factor. Huzman's win over Kasparov decides nothing, because it was a one move blunder. |
| Jul-15-06 | | rustamrocks: <He does not engage the teenagers on the sharp end of opening theory, testing his ailing memory against the freshness of their computer-assisted analysis. Instead he heads a little off the beaten track - not exactly to the jungle, but to lesser-travelled byways where his experience counts. Here his speculative attack brought its reward.> Nigel Short's recent comments on Rublevsky ... http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail... |

| Jun-02-07 | | arunjangity: judging from the mini-pics shown with each world match game...whoever pointed it out was right. he does look like barney rubble. (with darker hair) |
| Jun-02-07 | | whiskeyrebel: I understand the Barney R. comparison..but he looks a bit more like Sgt. Carter from "Gomer Pyle" USMC to me. I don't mean to trivialize his skills. Just having fun..ho ho. |
| Jun-13-07 | | Karpova: Still an impressive performance from Rublevsky who managed to win against Ponomariov and draw Grishuk at classical chess though both are 2700+ (and were born in 1983). |
| Jun-15-07 | | Knight13: He should get some rating points after those matches. |
| Sep-12-07 | | Resignation Trap: After a slow start in the Russian Championship Higher League, Rublevsky has pulled even with the leaders. After nine rounds, he has six points and shares the lead with Konstantin Sakaev , Alexey Dreev , Evgeny Tomashevsky , Artyom Timofeev and Nikita Vitiugov . |
| Oct-05-07 | | savagerules: Amazing that someone with such a very narrow repertoire like Rublevsky could get so high in rankings. Even in matches he didn't change his openings. |
| Oct-06-07 | | Plato: I had the same thought. I think the reason he gets away with it is because he's such a great specialist in the openings he does play, so it's extremely difficult to surprise him or get the better of him in the opening. |
| Jul-12-08 | | pawnofdoom: Hmm I haven't heard anything from this guy in a while. He's doing well in the Poikovsky tournament right now |
| Jul-13-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: He beat Karpov in a blitz game...'tournament' is a little misleading if you ask me. |
| Jul-30-08 | | offtherook: Rublevsky's bio: <he has never been able to string enough consistent results together to raise his rating past the 2700 mark> He recently topped 2700 in the live ratings. http://www.chess.liverating.org/ |
