| Knight13: Tao.... Hey man, Tao is a Chinese word. Is this computer made by Chinese? And why the name is Tao? Tao does nothing to do with Chess Computers. |
 |
| Jun-19-05 |
| aw1988: Tao is a religion. Computer names don't necessarily need to make sense. To clearly illustrate this point, there is a computer on here called 'Socrates'. |

| TheAlchemist: By the way, <Knight13>, what will happen to your handle, when you turn 14? |

 |
| acirce: <Tao is a religion.> Well, Taoism is a religion based around the concept of Tao. What Tao is, nobody knows. |
 |
| Jun-19-05 |
| aw1988: I meant that it has *to do* with religion, I was much too vague (although I would prefer to list it as general). |

| Shinermatt: By the way, "The Tao of Chess", by Peter Kurzdorfer, is a nice chess book for beginners. It lays out general chess principals, and parallels them with life experiences similar to what you would find in a book on Taoism or Buddhism. It was one of my first chess books, and I have since passed it on to a friend of mine. Of course, the Tao that can be spoken of is not the true Tao : ) |

| weisyschwarz: What Tao is for me will differ from your experience of Tao. Today we would say "hey, whatever floats your boat." I have the Kurtzdorfer book also. It offers good advice, with game finales to illustrate the point. Today, most people are into Dowism. |
