The Long Diagonal: <ahmadov: <King mega: Is he still called "the tiger"?> Not this one I think...> This one is called Liger.
Jan-10-08   hovik2003: There is simple and logical explaination for the matter of so many Tigran Petrosian-s. World Champion Tigran V. Petrosian is so widely loved and respected by Armenians that usually Petrosian families name there son Tigran after his eternal memory, and in a country where half of the population play high level chess it doesn't surprize me a bit if we will have another World Champion named Tigran Petrosian.
Jan-10-08   Petrosianic: And not only that, Armenia is secretly breeding an army of Petrosians for eventual world domination.
Jan-10-08   Jim Bartle: And each and every one uses 4 a3 in the QID to conquer.

alexmagnus: Is this the Tigran Petrosian which played in the children's olympiad against some Israeli guy called Mikhail Botvinnik (!) in 1998?

alexmagnus: Looks like no... I meant this game: http://batgirl.atspace.com/Botvinni..., but that Petrosian was born in 1983 according to the page...

alexmagnus: Actually, if you change the birthdates then it's possible the game belongs to him. Since there is a Mikhail Botvinnik born 1983...

Strongest Force: Tigrano is a excellent blitz player who is in the mold of Nakamura in terms of speed and trash-talking. :) However, the bottom-line is that he brings lots of fun and excitment to a often boring game.
Apr-26-08   Billy Vaughan: Funnily, in a high school chess tournament I was at a few months ago, I saw yet another Tigran Petrosian competing! However, he was playing board 8, and wasn't doing so well....

WannaBe: <arsen387> Thank you, more pictures can be viewed from my profile.

I had the 'luck' of being in the same elevator with Tigran, V. Akobian, heading down to the casino after the last round. =)

One of the high-light of the tournament for moi!!

Jun-30-08   arsen387: <GM Tigran L. Petrosian will fill the vacancy in the Armenian National Team after the untimely passing of GM Karen Asrian. This was the decision made by the Armenian Chess Federation.

Thus, the Armenian Men's Team will appear for the Dresden Olympiad 2008 with the following composition: GMs Aronian, Akopian, Sargissian, Art. Minasian, T. L. Petrosian.>

Sep-22-08   gars: this is a comment about horvik 2003's comment on Armenian families who have the Petrosian surname: I have been told that after T.V. Petrosian won Botvinnik in 1963 an Armenian lady had triplets and called them Tigran, Vartan and Petros. Is it true? It is funny, anyway.
Nov-21-08   ArmeniaNL: Tiko jan apres!!!!!!!!!!11

Nov-25-08   ArmeniaNL: I do not have much to say: simply impressed!!!!!!!!!!11 first show up in a major tournament and a fantastic play.

Typical T.L. Petrosian style :)) (a new style)

Nov-25-08   DUS: Viva Tigran L. Petrosian!

His contribution was very important to win Dresden 2008 Chess Olympiad.

I think one can call him the new "Iron Tigran" of chess. As Levon Aronian he has been a student of a famous chess specialist Melikset Khachian (GM Khachian now lives in the USA). Another similarity to Levon is that Tigran too is very stable to enormous psychological pressures and thus is very reliable player in any circumstances.

Nov-26-08   arsen387: Thank you, Tigran, for your great performance and the final golden win against Li Chao!!
