This week the 17-year-old GM Timur Gareev and fellow Uzbek IM Anton Fillipov were disgraced when they were caught using analysis engines while competing in tournaments on the popular PlayChess server. The fraud – the equivalent of taking a crowbar to a cash-dispenser – was detected by the use of sophisticated software programs.
