Benzol: I think this sort thing has arisen before. BTW why does the bio say died -50 when it's filled in correctly as 1950 in the editors bio block?
Jul-24-07   stanleys: More successes in Leningrad's championships: in 1946 he shares the third place. It was a particularly strong tournament, won by Tolush; Levenfish was second.Klaman,Taimanov,Chekhover,Lisitsyn,Furman,Kopyl- ov,Stoliar also played there http://www.rogerpaige.me.uk/Tables 17.htm

In 1949 the championship was even stronger (Bondarevsky,Shamkovich,Zhukhovitsky,Borisenko played too) - Vasilev tied for the second place http://www.rogerpaige.me.uk/Tables 20.htm
