Jun-23-06  blingice: Why isn't Yang Shen vs Rublevsky, 2005 in her "Notable Games" section? Isn't the requirement that a game has to be in two or more collections?

notyetagm: Shen Yang just won the 2006 Girls World Junior Championship. Congrats!

Wow, so -she- was the Chinese girl who beat Rublevsky last year at the World Team Championship.

They should just give China the Team and Board medals for the 2008 Women's Olympiad right now.

Oct-20-06  Sularus: She will go far people!

A future Judit !

lostemperor: As punishment for his loss to Yang Shen, Rublevsky was sentenced to Siberia. To play some tournament. He won;)
Oct-20-06  Ashram64: i should date cute chinese chess girls
Dec-25-06  shr0pshire: Here is a cute correspondence game where Yang Shen uses the sicilian wing gambit, and has a nice win over a very strong correspondence player.

technical draw: Well, I just beat WGM Yang Shen at Queen Alice. Then again she lost on time. Probably lost interest in the game or her calendar is crowded or something, anyway I'll take the win.
Feb-26-07  schnarre: <technical draw> Still bragging rights, eh!?
Feb-22-09  dumbgai: She's holding her own against a GM field at Aeroflot. 3/6 against 2576 competition.

whiteshark: The young star of the new superpower in China had a youth debut back in <2001> by winning <Under 12 Girls World Youth Championship>. She won the <World Junior Girls title> in <2006>.

She also has a successful record for her national team since she was the member of the Chinese national team that won the bronze medal in the last two Olympiads and also that won the first edition of the World Teams Championship for women.

She qualified for the quarter finals in World Championship for women last year in Nalchik and eliminated by Humpy Koneru. Up to the undesirable end, she was the upset of the championship since she eliminated Xue Zhao, world champion then, and Nadezhda Kosintseva.

Mar-18-09  ex0duz: Shen is playing really bad at the Ataturk Womens Masters tournament in Turkey.. she's on 2/9 and coming in third last, 182 points below her nominal 2448 rating.. She even lost to wooden spooner, Betil(sp?) Yildiz, who is rated 2214, nearly a whole 250 points below her.. in their game it looked like Shen just blundered her knight for no real reason(touch rule?).

Anyone know what's going on with her? She got any personal problems or something like that? This is just too painful, she's playing even worse than Mamedyarova, AND she lost to Yildiz. That's just really really bad.

Yesterday or two days ago, I had hoped for her to finish the tournament more respectfully, but then she just lost to Yildiz in the most horrifying fashion possible(dropped a piece for no reason). All chance for salvation seems to have slipped away, and that loss is just the 'cherry on top' of her incredibly bad tournament. Am i being too harsh on her?

Mar-18-09  dumbgai: <ex0duz> Maybe she has some personal problems right now, or maybe she's just having a bad tournaments. It happens to everyone from time to time. Like I said in another page, she played quite fine at Aeroflot.

waustad: A win in the first round in the Chinese Championships is a good start. Maybe she can get back some of the elo she lost in Vietnam. http://chess-results.com/tnr98202.a...
