[what is this?]
Zhaoqin Peng was born in China in 1968. She left her homeland in 1996 and now lives in the Netherlands, where she is the #1 rated female player. Peng has won the Dutch Women's Championship seven consecutive times.

In the Dutch Women's Championship (2005) she achieved an incredible 8/10, winning two full points ahead of her nearest rival. This was no fluke: in the Dutch Women's Championship (2007) she finished with 8/9 points, winning once more by two full points.

Caissanist: Ordinarily you have to achieve a minimum rating of 2500 to gain the GM title, but her all time high appears to be in the mid 2400s. Does anyone know how she managed to get the title?

lostemperor: She got her title by becoming shared first in the European championship 2004 and thereby scoring 2600+ performance rating. But still it is exceptional to get the title by just one fine tournament result because of a new regulation.

She is from China but is Dutch now and live in the Netherlands. a few years ago when a Dutch team needed a player I contacted her in Holland and arranged her to play there.

Jul-04-05   Montreal1666: What is the link that explains are new
regulations for becoming a GM and WGM?
Jul-04-05   jamesmaskell: Women can become a male title holders...is it possible for men to do the opposite? I'd rather like to have a women's title. That would be a funny ice breaker!
Jul-30-05   OJC: GM Zhaoqin Peng had a disappointing day. She lost to Betul Cemre Yildiz (rated 2155) in the european team championships. I don't think her performace rating will be 2600+ this year.

Very nice pictures in there..

If you scroll almost to the bottom there is a picture of <Arlette van Weersel>.. The resemblance to a famous A-list actress is irry..

Let's see if Peng can beat Fenny Heemskerk 's record (she sadly passed away this month)
