Boomie: The way Judit used her knights with 14. g5! is miraculous. Here and against Naiditsch, Judit showed that you don't get into a bar room brawl with the girl. Even Anand got his ears boxed.

  achieve: <Boomie> Hi - thought you might wanna check out this one -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI6d...

- and see if you like it... Song is called 'Another Day' by <Buckshot Lefonque> (love the name!), and he is accompanied by none other than <Branford Marsalis>. I think the harmonies are deft and the song has a lovely "sway" to it, as if floating along until sunset, with the wonderful arrangement and chorus with Branford showing his magical lines on the soprano sax.

And a bonus track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCj7... - Sananda Maitreya / Sign Your Name

I just put up another live version of this song over at Jessie's place.

A rather "different", unconventional, rendition of "What a Wonderful World".

Great Duet performance with a brilliant guitarist.

Enjoy!

  achieve: -- A small musical intermezzo --

<Boomie>

So delightfully spot on on Mr Wonder's "sway" - and I may have something very special for you; - it is to me... I bought this Album ('Square Circle') actually, just because of this song, 'Overjoyed'... He is truly the master, and I can hardly imagine a more blissfull feeling, than to sing along with Stevie here, or perhaps even better, just dancing, floating across my home, a pirouette or two...

This is the gem I found just now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5wR... - and Stevie's voice is still so incredibly open and comfortable in the high register, where later, perhaps, his voice began to squeeze a bit more... But I'm not in ANY position to critisize the Genius and Force of Nature, that is Stevie Wonder.

Very moving performance to me, literally as well. Waaaayy ahead actually, of anything I encountered lately, from *any* genre.

Alicia Keys said of him a couple years ago: "He was so cool then, and so far ahead, and we're still trying to catch up..."

With the passing of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder may well remain to be the Biggest Man in Music (not just Soul/Pop), for a few years to come; bar none.

This is the Album Version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQck... - the finished article, but my vote at this point goes to the "Solo with own accompaniment"-version. Comparison is actually quite foolish of me, and useless. Enjoy both for what they are.

  achieve: Just this time switching back to your forum:

<Boomie>: <Mozart tried to write a fugue once. He said it was the hardest thing he ever did. Plus it wasn't very good...heh.> Yes, I knew that anecdote, and always thought to myself: "naaaaaaahhhh, that must be wildly exaggerated, etc...", since Mozart was such a genius at anything related to music. I do believe that he was of the opinion that following Bach's Fugue Oevre, there was nothing really worthwhile he could do there, that wouldn't be inferior to Bach-- THAT"S how good Johann Sebastian was...

Just for fun, I searched and found this game (unfortunately a loss) on the web (chesslab.com). I first thought it was from the US Open 1975, but can't find any Wall on the results list. Please just delete if you don't want it here.
