Apr-05-07  RonB52734: By the way, I meant to say that I don't think "seeding" the bets is such a good idea. First of all, to the extent that you bias the seeding in favor of a draw, aren't you taking away somewhat from the profit smart betters can make in games where they believe the other betters have underestimated the probability of a draw? I suppose you'd have to run some simulations to see if that's in fact true, but it seems on the surface to be true in theory.

Second, how would you ever seed some of the exotic bets, or would you?

Apr-06-07  refutor: why not limit it to paying members?
Apr-06-07  Archives: ChessBookie, if you rig this action so I win lots of monies, I will cut you in on the profit (an even 50/50 split?)

Let me know if your keen.

Oh BTW, you should probably delete this post after you read it, because we don't want the fish to realise we are conspiring against them.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

chessgames.com: <CapablancaRuyLopez> We are currently "between legs" ... the new Spring leg will start very soon, in just a day or two! Then you will be able to place bets with your starting 1000 chessbucks. Thanks for your patience.

Chessgames Bookie: After careful consideration, we decided to keep the rules just as they are.

We are going to reset everybody's account and begin the new leg either today or tomorrow. Stay tuned, and good luck!

Apr-07-07  Troglodyte: It says that the betting closes in 11.7 hours for the "European Individual Championships", are we going to get our new chessbucks in time for it or are we supposed to used our chessbucks from the last leg? I assume that the people betting now are using last leg's chessbucks--I'm confused.
Apr-07-07  Troglodyte: Ah, nevermind I just got my new chessbucks, thanks.
Apr-07-07  Troglodyte: I think I got confused because it's still showing my old networth on my profile.

WannaBe: I am so ready to lose my newly 'gained' chess bucks...
Apr-08-07  Troglodyte: At the bets for the European Individual Championships (2007), it says that in case of a draw you "will adhere to the tiebreak protocol of the competition". Could you please specify the tiebreak rules? I can't find them anywhere.
Apr-08-07  chessamateur: Let me call up the players from the European Championship, maybe they would be interested in a proposition. They can stage the whole thing and I'll share my hordes of winning chessbucks with them, Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!!! ........... uh no.

Chessgames Bookie: <refutor: why not limit it to paying members?> We've considered it, and one day it might be that way. For the game to function in an interesting way it takes several hundred active participants and this is our way of increasing the interest in the game.

Could you please specify the tiebreak rules? I can't find them anywhere.> Honestly, I'm not sure. Remembering from previous years, I believe that if two people are dead tied for first they have a playoff match a few weeks after the main event. But maybe they will allow "co-champions" this year? If anybody can find this information we'd be appreciative, but we're willing to just wait and find out what happens.

Chessgames Bookie: <Bookie, N Khurtsidze is listed twice in the women's event...> That's a mistake.

<Are there going to be any bets on the individual rounds?> If they put their pairing up early enough, yes.

Chessgames Bookie: You can now wager on the following games from the ninth round of the European Individual Championships:

European Individual Championship: Rd 9: Jakovenko vs Tomashevsky
European Individual Championship: Rd 9: Sutovsky vs Almasi
European Individual Championship: Rd 9: Volokitin vs Malakhov
European Individual Women's Championship: Rd 9: Kosintseva N vs Kosintseva T

Apr-12-07  GeauxCool: Hi <Chessgames Bookie>. In the last leg, it is known who became the first champion. But I had created a self-attainable goal, which was to finish debt-free! So my question is: Where can I find the results from the last leg? There was a 2 week break after the last leg which restricted access to the data before the last-betting-round's results were posted. If they are not available, then would you consider creating an archive, or else leaving the results of the leg posted for 24hrs after the last-betting-round results are posted? (I assume there is an archive.)
Apr-12-07  themadhair: My last round of strategical low-risk betting netted me a profit of 2 chessbucks. They say no risk no reward.
Apr-12-07  dzanone: I got my chessbucks, thank you, but I never saw any open events. Everyday since I got my bucks I would check in and see closed events. Have they been opening and closing really fast?
Apr-14-07  CapablancaRuyLopez: After you lost a bet is it smart to discard your card right away???

Thanks Guys!!

Annie K.: Half an hour to go until the bet on Yuri's 27th move closes, and the bets from yesterday's Round 11 of the European Individual Championships (and the Women's Winner bet that is also settled) have still not been paid off... are you guys understaffed over there? ;)
Apr-15-07  C3r3brum: Hi Chessgames and -Bookiw thank you for every day in the last year you have increased my interest in chess. I have a question regarding the Chessbookie system: I have some tickets predicting the correct result of some matches that have been decided a day or two ago, I wonder when I can collect the chessbucks? (the matches are mostly european chess ch.) Thanks
