I'm David Evans from the Land of Oz where I play at Rooty Hill RSL Chess Club in Sydney's west and write off-beat chess features for the club web site. It's at http://www.rootyhillchess.org

My personal site is http://www.tomorrowland.info -- a collection of yarns (some related to chess) about life in Australia.

My OTB rating usually hovers between 1550 and 1650.

My handle is from my column "Dancing with Dozy" in the South Pacific Square Dance Review. Docey Do became Dozy Do then Dozy.

Since reading <BishopofBlunder's> profile I thought I should say how I got started, but because it's already on my web page you only need to click here: http://www.users.tpg.com.au/adslpu7...

Dozy: Hi Tactics0 ... Well, you'd have a point there except that he's always got me to send his dotty dashes to. And you're partly right. Dah-dah is 'M' and although dit-dit-dah-dah isn't a letter I think it may have been a question mark (I can't be sure, we never used it in Oz). Or, we can ...

Dozy: Blacktown Council seem to be one of Sydney's more progressive suburban councils. Last year, to mark the centenary of local government in Australia, they organised a sports festival comprising events from many sports. Rooty Hill Chess Club were invited to participate and we staged a ...

Dozy: <NEW CATEGORY> <Most addictive forum>: JoeWms <Funniest Kibitzer>: JoeWms Howzat (as we cricketing nations like to say)? Two nominations for the same kibitzer, but both well deserved!

Oct-12-06 Kramnik vs Topalov, 2006 (replies)

Dozy: At the start of this competition I wanted Topalov to win and, in spite of the shenanigans, I still like the guy -- but really I think it would be an injustice if he won tonight. Go Kramnik!

Dozy: A bit late to find this (on p154) <<OhioChessFan:> I don't know how to play poker, but I do know this: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy, oy, oy!> Less well known is the Greek equivalent that was made famous during the Athens Olympics: Olive, Olive, Olive -- Oil! Oil! Oil! ...

Dozy: <twinlark> Ian Rogers' blog has emerged again, but this time in the U.S. Latest information seems to be that the SMH are considering reinstating it, but that is still to be confirmed. If it is reinstated it will be at this url: http://blogs.smh.com.au/sport/archi... Ian's U.S. ...

Dozy: I posted this on my own forum, but maybe it's better here. A victim's lament: Advice to youngsters leaving home in my day was, "Don't smoke, don't drink, don't gamble." Well, I didn't always take that advice. I tried smoking but, fortunately, dropped it early; drinking captured my ...
