May-25-13 Morozevich vs Nakamura, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: There has been a lot of discussion on Black's 21st move but it should be mentioned that a move earlier White had the opportunity to obtain a large, maybe winning, advantage with 20 a4! [DIAGRAM] 20...b4? 21 Ba6 Rb8 22 Bb5 Rb5, forced, 23 Nb5

May-25-13 Anand vs Nakamura, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: <harrylime: That game was played by teletype .. Fischer was not allowed in Havana. .. Fischer was under extra strain than the other tournament participants.> OK, some points: 1. I don't get how Fischer was under extra strain, he got to play from New York City instead of ...

May-25-13 Team White vs Team Black, 2013 (replies)
   May-19-13 I Farago vs Ftacnik, 1994

Hesam7: <sneaky pete: 11... Qc1 is the only move.> And this is based on Black scoring a win with 11...Qb1!? White's mistake was 15 Kg3? which lost the h8-Bishop but even after 15 Bg7 Nd7 16 Kg3 Rc8 [DIAGRAM] The position remains very sharp. For example 17 Bh6? loses to 17...Nc5! 18 Qd4

May-18-13 Wang Hao vs Anand, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: <blackdranzer: Rfd8 is something that anand will never play against magnus....i guess vishy is experimenting with unbalanced endgames so that he wuld be more confident against the master magnus!...> What? 16...Rfd8 was a blunder, Anand did not play it on purpose. Also even ...

   May-17-13 Anand vs J L Hammer, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: This seems like pure bluffing from Anand, for example after <20...Nc6!> [DIAGRAM] White is lost: <21 Nh7> 21 Rh7? Rad8 <21...Rfd8> forced <22 d7> 22 Nf6 Kg7 23 Nd5 Rh8 24 Rh8 Rh8 25 Ne7 Bc2 26 Rc2 Qb5 ...

May-10-13 Anand vs Topalov, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: <NGambit: <Eyal> It's funny that he didn't play 33.Qf1 when, by his own account, the point of his 32.Qh1 (or Qg2) was to be able play Qf1.> Same thing happened again on the 35th move. If I remember correctly, Anand had seen 35 Bb3 but ended playing 35 Be6 and was relieved

May-09-13 Nakamura vs Wang Hao, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: <Eyal: Black's position is already very difficult when the game reaches 36.b3> Is it? It looks like 36...Ke5 followed by ...c4 & ...b5 gives Black an impenetrable fortress.

   Apr-30-13 Kramnik vs Anand, 2013

Hesam7: <HeMateMe: This opening seems a bit vanilla. Can white actually win with this, at the grandmaster level?> The alternative is anti-Moscow Gambit (6 Bh4) which is an improved version of the Botvinnik variation for Black. On the other hand after 11...c5 [DIAGRAM] White is two ...

   Apr-25-13 A Giri vs Caruana, 2013 (replies)

Hesam7: Giri played extremely fast until Caruana came up with 28...h6. His speed had me convinced that he has found a winning route for White in the NPP vs. R endgame ... alas as far I know there was no big theoretical discoveries in this game.

brankat: <Hesam7> Regarding the chess books. I would be very much interested, since I have very few of my own. Mostly I borrow in the library whatever may be available at a time.

But, lately I've been quite strapped for cash, basically flat broke, and struggling big time.

Still, if You are not selling immediately, perhaps You could send me an e-mail with the Titles, just in case I come up with some cash in the next 2-3 weeks. Which is possible.

My address: <brankokatic15@yahoo.ca>.

Thank You.

cu8sfan: Congratulations! I dreamt all night how I would be playing with these pieces soon. (-: No really, I'm happy for you.
Dec-26-07  Ziggurat: Congrats for winning the Reykjavik pieces!
Dec-26-07  Chess Classics: Wow, that's really great. I feel that you should break it in by playing a good Fischer-Spassky game like the sixth one from their match. Just kind of as a ceremony. But then, that's probably just one of my silly ideas again...

Regards,
CC

Dec-27-07  square dance: <cc> thats a great idea!

<hesam> if you're in a hurry you could just play through game 2. ;-)

Dec-27-07  Chess Classics: Yeah, but to actually play through it you have to make mock phone calls, sit there for an hour, etc.

Regards,
CC

notyetagm: Fischer vs U Geller, 1968

<Hesam7: Mark Dvoretsky:

<16...a6? Now White's thematic strike against d5 secures him the advantage . Black should have chosen between 16...b6 and 16...b4>

<25.e5!! An elegant coup, after which White's positional plus becomes decisive.>

<On 29...xf3 White has 30.e8+! xe8 31.xh7 f8 32.g7+>>

Are these annotations by Dvoretsky to be found in his <"Opening Preparation"> book?

Thanks

Aug-16-08  ravel5184: <Hesam7> You know, you can just delete the Castellvi vs. Vinyoles game from your Game Collection: WCC Index and the collection will still be there, although it will say "This collection is current empty" and not "This collection is <currently> empty" (I've been there.)
