Landman: 1.e3 ... 2.a3 ...3.h3 ... 4.g3 ... 5.b3 ... 6.c3 ... 7.d3 ... 8.f3 ... [Ivanchuk loses on time]

Mar-15-13 Ivanchuk vs Grischuk, 2013 (replies)

Landman: I don't see a way for either side to play for a win. If anyone had chances to be better it was Black with the outside pawns, but he must not have seen anything better than a draw when he forced the Q exchange.

Feb-24-13 Anand vs Gelfand, 2013 (replies)

Landman: Why was seven afraid of six?

   Feb-24-13 M Molner vs A Jayakumar, 2011

Landman: <perfidious> I recall 23...Re8-e7 from the final game of the 1985 WC match. There the idea was even weirder than protecting f7 - the next move was 24...Rde8 doubling rooks and leaving the e7R with no legal moves. Karpov vs Kasparov, 1985

Jan-26-13 Carlsen vs Nakamura, 2013 (replies)

Landman: <Eyal> <kellmano> I agree, "computer-lost" is a useful term. Nakamura's comment after his KID win over Anand: "I don't really have to find the difficult moves here. I attack, it if works, it works; if it doesn't, I lose horribly and look like an idiot." This is part of ...

Landman: Sneaky - How about "Pairs of independently famous games"? Nothing subjective about that. ;P Actually, one could make this somewhat objective: famous = published in Informat.

   Jan-24-13 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

Landman: Equivalent stats for Rapid+Blitz+Blindfold only. Fewer games means more variance. 2007 Carlsen 2.5/10 = 25% Kramnik 10.5/18 = 58% Aronian 8.5/16 = 53% Anand 8.5/16 = 53% 2008 Carlsen 2.5/8 = 31% Kramnik 4.5/8 = 56% Aronian 4/6 = 67% Anand 3/6 = 50% 2009 Carlsen ...

   Jan-23-13 Carlsen vs E L'Ami, 2013 (replies)

Landman: It has to be a mistake to allow Carlsen to get opposite-colored bishops. Look how many games he wins with those things.

Jan-20-13 Carlsen vs Karjakin, 2013 (replies)

Landman: With this game, Carlsen climbs up a notch or two on the list of all-time greats.

   Jan-19-13 Tata Steel (2013) (replies)

Landman: Anand's +3 from seven games is all the more remarkable because he's faced 4 of his top 5 competitors by rating (Carlsen, Aronian, Caruana, Nakamura). Anand has the "easiest" opponents remaining, with avg rating 2693. The other leaders face 2709 (Carlsen), 2735 (Karjakin) and 2757 ...

Jul-09-06  DCP23: Chris, that's a nice website you linked. Your 'Kasparov number' is 5, which is pretty good, but mine is 4!! I've beaten IM Attila Turzo in a simul on ICC (that was him giving a simul and not me, I have to admit :) and mr. Turzo has a KN of 3, so mine is 4. Cool, huh?!

Landman: Hey, just noticed I have a forum. =)
<DCP23> I think the ibeatgarry concept excludes simul games. No matter, it's just for fun.
Aug-29-08  ravel5184: <Landman> What's up with your forum? Only 2 kibitzes? (well 3 now).
Sep-06-08  Artar1: <We need your vote in our Battle of the Brains2 game. Can you vote right now? The team needs you. Thanks!>
