Maatalkko: The World Champion wins one game and chess fans are going bananas. I think that says a lot in itself.

| | May-07-13 J L Hammer vs Carlsen, 2013
| |
|
Maatalkko: Pet peeve of mine that Chessbase calls this is called a "sac" when Black is getting the Queen back four ply later through a forced sequence with two pawns interest. It's a nice tactic, but not really a sac.

Maatalkko: <Everett: I did glean a few things from our interaction, though, mostly that by looking at the numbers, it is clear that only Kasparov and Karpov had really dominant performances for extended periods of time as champion. Most of the others were just happy to be there, and were ...

| | Apr-01-13 Carlsen vs Svidler, 2013
| |
|
Maatalkko: <plang: For all the criticisms this has been a very exciting tournament> Sometimes I get the feeling that young Alekhine, young Capa, and young Fischer could all come back from the dead and play a quadruple round robin against prime Karpov and Kasparov, and these pages would
