<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [MOVE]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 2 pts rewarded closest OVER(2nd-OVER) to 45 moves.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

hms123: <OCF> <jess> I will take "unrepentant and surly" for two tacos.

  OhioChessFan: Current predictions:

<jfq> and <hms> "unrepentant and surly"

<OCF> "triumphant"

2 days to enter. First Prize is 2 tacos (soft tacos if I happen to win).

crawfb5: I will go with <martyrlike>, but <all of the above> is probably the best bet.

jessicafischerqueen: <Big laying off bets> Sorry, according to Vegas rules you can't bet "all outcomes" and still get paid.

As game host, <Ohio> will have to make the final decision, but I sense "no free tacos" in your future.

This instructional video will explain:

jessicafischerqueen: <Big> well you're not alone. Take a look at the stats on that "No free tacos" video.

It was uploaded last September. When I clicked on it, it had 0 views. I was the first viewer.

The guy has uploaded more than 28,000 videos.

The video was clearly taken with his cell phone off of his TV screen.

That means he spends his entire life watching TV, taking video of random things with his cell phone, and uploading them even though he knows nobody will ever look at them.

That's what I call dedication.

OhioChessFan: My final decision is that <crawf> voted for <martyrlike> and made an extraneous comment about the viability of <all of the above> Therefore, the vote for <martyrlike> stands.
Mar-04-12  hatsis: Hi, Ocf, I place a {Verify source|type=reprint} on inline citation 16 and 17 on the wiki entry because it is does not provide a link of the magazine articles. In line citations are needed for verification. Per wiki guidelines, verification is needed when citing references. If there is no link available, reprint of the article can be a substitute.
Mar-04-12  hatsis: But then again, reprint can be a copyright infringement.
Mar-04-12  hatsis: <The Chessgames.com database can be searched by player, year, opening, ECO code and result.[16][17]>

Does not make a lot of sense to me, perhaps you can help me understand what it means?

Mar-04-12
Premium Chessgames Member
OhioChessFan: You can go to the homepage and do a search for games by the player of your choice. Just fill in the blank with Fischer, Tal, Lasker, etc. The search will return games for those players, that is, the subject of your search. You can do a search for games in the year of your choice. Say 2009. The search will return all games for that year, that is. the subject of your search. Likewise, you can do a search for a speicific opening, ECO code, or result (1-0 1/2 0-1 )

Perhaps it should read "searched by any combination of player, year...."

Mar-04-12

OhioChessFan: I just reviewed the article and think the line about search is fine as is. I don't know the rules per Wiki about article links. I would be shocked if every article referenced on Wiki has its own link. That starts to get into the same realm as not including GM's in the article because they don't have a Wiki link.
Mar-04-12  hatsis: HI, if you put an inline citation, ie, 16,17, that citation, when clicked, should go to the reference listed on the bottom of the page corresponding to ref 16 or 17. If it is a dead link, it is no good. If it has no link, it makes the reader doubtful, like where's the beef?
Mar-04-12  hatsis: Gm's in the article that doesn't have a wiki entry can be link to their fide page to prove they actually a GM.
Mar-04-12

OhioChessFan: Got ya. It may be an issue that magazine isn't yet online. I agree about the GM's.

  jessicafischerqueen: QUESTION:

<I would be shocked if every article referenced on Wiki has its own link.>

If it did, wouldn't that mean that

1. In order for each "linked link" to be referenced in turn, there would have to be an infinite number of internet articles online.

or

2. The articles would just link back to each other in a gigantic circle, proving nothing other than they make a big circle.

Given the number of dead links on chess wiki articles, what's wrong with linking notes to actual print sources?

Are there any print sources besides <Howard's> article that mention <CG.com>?

Mar-04-12  frogbert: jessica, here are a couple central articles answering most of your questions:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:I...

<Given the number of dead links on chess wiki articles, what's wrong with linking notes to actual print sources?>

nothing.

"Citations for books typically include the name of the author(s), the title of the book (in italics), the volume if applicable, the city of publication (optional), the name of the publisher, the year of publication, and the ISBN number (optional),"

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipe...

Mar-04-12  hatsis: References without valid supporting evidence can be challenged and if not provided can be removed. This is per wiki guidelines. This is the case of inline citation/reference 16 and 17. Typically, citation 1 was challenged a while back and the challenge was removed when the entry was updated.

It had 6 views by the time I got there. I think it's more interesting than "Charlie bit me finger".
