I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, TEXAS! and have the bumper sticker that says "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could." Since N. Texas is the starting gates for Tornado Alley, I occasionally have to put up with this sort of thing:

Obama has garnered a full 50% of the electorate vote to win another term. This is the death knell for many American small businesses. Democrat voters, it is now your responsibility to ensure your vote for Obama does not kill Put up, by paying up: I challenge all U.S. Democrats that frequent this site to purchase a four-year membership.

Mar-30-12  hedgeh0g: <Whatever you think of Santorum's theology, you just have to admire the tenacity and solid core of the man. He is who he is, no etch-a-sketcher, able to do what he does without multi-million spending campaigns.....>

A tenacious idiot, but an idiot nonetheless.

<If I were Obama, I would greatly fear a man who has no speech writers, no teleprompter, no huge staff, no multi-million media campaign, and yet is now close in every Republican race.>

If I were Santorum, I would probably look into hiring that speech writer. He may be popular among the far right, but he would get convincingly thrashed in a general election against any populist candidate. He has such a low regard for voter intelligence that he even thinks he can get away with running an ad interspersing Obama with Ahmadinejad.

< problem. If <spending is what he has going for him>, that factor is totally neutralized, if not reversed in power, when he meets the spending power of Obama. A Democrat-funded saturated media campaign emphasizing a flip-flopper, a Gevernment-run Health care supporter, a Rich guy who is out of touch with the poor......his media budget cannot beat this coming crap.>

Romney poses by far the greatest threat to Obama, although I think the incumbent's chances are certainly to be favoured. I don't see how any of those issues you mentioned aren't fair game. Unlike many of the claims levelled against Obama by Republicans (Muslim, Marxist, Kenyan citizen, etc.), those are all true and represent a major obstacle to Romney's campaign. The fact that in order to win the nomination in the first place, he will have had to pander to the far-right can only hurt his chances.

As I've stated before: if the Republican Party could actually produce a decent candidate and attacked <legitimate> aspects of Obama's presidency (failure to introduce financial reforms, National Defense Authorization Act, continuing "War on Drugs", surge in Afghanistan, etc.), it might be in with a good chance of winning the Presidency. Instead, by further polarising the electorate with demagoguery, the Republican Party has only made things easier for Obama.

PinnedPiece: I am intrigued by this article. It implies that the severability issue is dead simply due to the enormous chore of teasing it out of the masses of new regulations, agencies, pricing, etc etc of "The Affordable [sic] Health Care Act".

===Not Heard on Talk Radio===

When this law is overturned as unconstitutional, I would be strongly in favor of <trying every member of our legislative branch who VOTED IN FAVOR>, on charges of sedition against the Constitution of the United States.

Treasonous, it was, to vote for some heinous plan no one fully understood, with consequences weighty enough to be unpredictable in their effect on a major part of our economy. Not to mention these elected officials were sworn in TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

In my mind they are automatically guilty if they curse the coming decision, and vow to get around it some other way. Like with a popular revolt.

Mar-30-12  I play the Fred: <Acoustic Alchemy>, <Metheny>, and <Bach>? You sir are not only a sharp, right-thinking pundit, you're a man of taste.

On the subject of Metheny:

1) The highest compliment my guitar playing received was by a guy who said I was better than anyone he ever saw on stage, <including> Metheny. (He was wrong, but that felt good)

2) Have you heard classical guitarist Jason Vieaux's album of Metheny tunes? His version of <Letter From Home> is amazing.

3) If you haven't yet, snap up a copy of <One Quiet Night> posthaste. You're welcome in advance.

PinnedPiece: My first post about Barack Obama as presidential material came on <RonB52734>'s chessforum in September of 2008, days before the election.

In his bio he had put <My wish for 2008: Obama '08!>

You will see that, like an alcoholic who knows he should not take another drink, I predicted the worst for both Barry and me and stepped right into the fray:

Sure you want to advertise that you are a coolade-drinking hate-America liberal on this rather neutral (non-political) game site?

I sure wouldn't give any kind of hint of my political leanings. I'd lay myself out for all kinds of ignoramous-type attacks that have nothing to do with cold analytical chess computation.> So much for taking my own advice.

Ron has apparently stopped visiting CG.COM (sometime in early 2011). I continue my flabbergasted ranting against a Marxist-in-the-making (not <RonB>).

And I believe that strong supporters of Barack Obama in 2012 are the type of people who aren't terribly concerned about truth, Constitutional government, Rule of Law, or have much of a belief in the power and liberty of the individual, but would rather accept the vague, disinformation-shrouded promises of a Nanny-state administrator, ready to hand them biscuit treats whenever they feel they need them. Such treats includes shutting down power utility, electrical generating facilities, squeezing the production of oil-based products (to wit, gas, oil, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, white gas, thousands of plastic and synthetic rubber products, thousands of chemicals, dozens of different construction materials, asphalt for roads, packaging materials....the list goes on for days), giving billions in loan aid to new energy companies (that promptly fail), all in the belief that--despite what is happening in the rest of the world and out of Obama's control--turning the U.S. back into a pre-industrial society is good for the planet and their personal guilt trip. To top it off, these supporters normally deny that the U.S., now deeply in debt, cannot take more debt, or that any type of Greece or Spain future lies ahead. If you deny such clear evidence of a wrong direction, Obama is your guy.

Most young people see Romney as at best a corporate sociopath.

It isn't until you are older that you see him as a shallow jerk although walking a blind person into a glass door on purpose like he did when young on might make you change your mind.

It certainly helps those young people to vote Obama when the media is primarily interested in delving deep into the past, and using any hearsay story they can find, to smear and destroy a "Republican", while failing to look into the simplest of recent, and in my opinion far more harmful, relationships/associations/activities of Obama.

Its a very long list, its not crazed right wing jabberwocky like "blind person walking into glass doors" is from the left, and each point above is far more fact-filled and crucial for understanding Obama than anything the media is focussing on about Romney (at the moment).

---- ------ ----- ---

* In fact, since Trayvon Martic autopsy showed THC in the blood, a behavior-changing substance from marijuana, Obama could have as easily pronounced that "Trayvon Martin could have been my toke-buddy!"

** Obama officials acting on his policies did not take a Hezbollah murderer of Americans to Guantanamo, but gave him to Iraqis who will release him.

If we want to go back to high school to vet our presidential candidates, how about Barry Obama's salute to his drug dealer, Ray, captured forevermore on his grad picture page from Punahu School in Honolulu.

See the wonderful picture here:

...and the full story here:

How this person can be deemed presidential material is beyond me. How the liberal pot-smoking media in this country would rather go after <rumors of bullying> on the part of Romney rather than <the fact of a degenerate punk> that was Obama, is beyond me.

Premium Chessgames Member
Colonel Mortimer: I would back smoking pot over bullying any day of the week.
Premium Chessgames Member
  PinnedPiece: A noble sentiment but....

What you are saying in this case is that you would support politically driven smears of bullying over the Media's failure to investigate the full past of a pothead president of the U.S. any day of the week.

Premium Chessgames Member
Colonel Mortimer: Most politicians are white collar psychopaths - right or left, they have skeletons in the cupboard.
