Glorious winner of one third of the 7th Annual Caissar Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Username Selection (and that's official...)

"My cousin Sammy told me a true slugger - a Szeged slugger - will always swing for the fences, and that is exactly what I am going to do. I am going to knock Kramnik out of the room with my 'home run punch.' My trainer and I have been developing it in camp. I just hope Vladimir's head is screwed on tight or it may end up on top of the demonstration board!" Game Collection: Lékó - Fireless and Boring?

Annie K.: <Switch> Happy Birthday, or Happy Non-Birthday, as the case may be! :)

ahmadov: Come on <Switch>, this is not very serious now. You have to either admit or deny. You have not done non of them yet.

ahmadov: Sorry, in normal English this should sound like: "you have done non of them yet".

jessicafischerqueen: <Mr. Owls> yes, I did, as you surmised. Looks like <Bandanna> came prepared with the "early Rossolimo bishop going one square further than it's supposed to" as his primary plan against any of this "Sicilian nonsense" from <Gefilte Fish>.

Can't argue with his results. I was pleased to be able to tell a bit of the story of <Ross Ice Shelf> winning 4 games in one tournament with this opening in the <Roberto Rossolini> documentary film.

Now the dust is settling on the latest World Championship. You can tell this was a good one by the fact that 99% of the posts on the Tournament page are by rude, ill-informed, non-paying members stating the same four opinions over and over without even pretending to read back a bit to see their "current point" was already redundant before they typed their "new idea."

I have to say that the polite, abundantly-informed, factual posts by <Eyal> in that thread glow like Pearls before Swine.

But not erased I'll bet. <Branko> has a theory that you have in fact saved "the internet" on hard disc. Or are you using this newfangled "cloud"?

Probably the answer is TOP SECRET.

dakgootje: I thought he saved it on a great number of floppy disks - and afterwards used the floppies as building blocks for his house.

Nifty little things they are. Moreover, the are black - which means his house is <INVISIBLE>. True story.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <moronovich> <brankat> Good luck for round 2 (and others as well)!

Not sure if we can all be lucky at the same time but let's hope the players find a way somehow :)

Jun-11-12  MarkFinan: Wow Switch!! You were In the dogs house with me yesterday, now you've gained a few grand!

That loanshark must be a personal friend of yours, how did you win over 2 grand??

Anyway <shakman> maybe head and shoulders above evryone, but he took a 10 grand dive, so I'm guessing that guy owes the loanshark some serious poke..

I'm learning, and i'll never forget what you told me about the loanshark being my friend! You lied lol :)

Jun-13-12  wordfunph: ChessBookie Master <Switch>, asking your authority if it would be best for me to stop betting at $3,800 with 5 rounds left, thank you.

brankat: If the goal is to be among the top 10, then 3,800 usually has not been enough. It's been more like 5-6 grand if memory serves me :-)
Jun-13-12  wordfunph: i recall 4k in the magic 10, thanks amigo <brankat>.

dakgootje: Depends a lot on the specific leg of course [amount of participants, betting chances et cetera].

I suspect 3.8 will be just a tiny bit short - but I don't know.. think it will be close.

I'd personally not stop yet, as there are still 5 rounds to play, and the gap to #1 is fairly possible. Of course, in that situation I might lose - and hit myself in the head afterwards. ;)

SwitchingQuylthulg: <wordfunph> It's by no means safe but it might make it. In Summer 2011, <Ragh> was 10th with c$3,701 - but that leg saw the least betting action of any leg ever, so it was somewhat anomalous... Then, legs seldom end in mid-June :)

You know what I would do in your position, namely try to catch <shakman> ;-) But even if you're happy with just finishing in the top 10, I'd advise you to make just a bit more money... like <dakkie>, I suspect c$3,800 might not be enough, and even if it is it will likely be too close for comfort. Besides, there's no actual downside to making more money ;-)

Of course, there's always the possibility of waiting a couple rounds to see how things develop.

dakgootje: Good luck SQ (and others)!

All my c$ are in play - so all that remains is watching the wheel as it spins :)

Jun-13-12  wordfunph: <But even if you're happy with just finishing in the top 10, I'd advise you to make just a bit more money... like dakkie>

will take this pill, small bets with high chances of pocketing some chessbucks. I will be satisfied with +500 in the last 5 remaining rounds. I appreciate your tip, again thanks <Switch>.

goodluck to you and <dakgootje> <brankat> <Mark> <moro> <others>..
